Erm. Monzón, Hagler, Greb, Hopkins and Robinson.

MW Charles as well but that's by the by.

I'd also be uninterested in someone saying that he'd beat guys like LaMotta, Tiger, Griffith, Valdez, McClellan, Jones, Toney ect.

I've long puzzled over GGG vs. B-Hop and have flip-flopped many times over it.

My opinion of Hopkins clearly was when Canelo flummoxed him on the back foot in their first fight, in a performance that you can extrapolate Hopkins replicating and one-upping. Prime Hopkins's workrate also dwarfs Canelo's, and matches GGG's own. What's GGG gonna do when you take his jab, back off and go to the body? Lose.

GGG is tailored made for Hopkins.

Like you said, Hopkins will take GGG main weapon away which is his jab. Secondly, Hopkins could do it all. I think he would fight GGG similar to how he fought Trinidad and stay on the inside, smother Golovkin, and punish him on the inside.

Remember, Hopkins is not a shot small MW like Canelo. He was a big MW, had much much better stamina than GGG and was far more multi dimensional.

Hopkins was a thinker, while GGG fights one dimensional.

Fair - but to me both Canelo bouts for GGG are sort of analagous to both Taylor bouts for Hopkins. They were neither of them 'shot' by any means, but the shadows had grown long on their best MW abilities. Rewind them about 3-4 years and neither has a too close to call affair with Taylor or Canelo.

I'd normally agree, but GGGs best wins are both one fight before and two fights after. The results he was getting show that GGG was near his best, and the eye-test can be misleading based off opponents. GGG, imo, was prime for the first fight, and if he wasn't prime, he wasn't far off it.

Yeah, Isal basically summed it up, in a weird way, why I'm confident picking Hopkins. He's too versatile and a bad match up for Gennady.

No it makes perfect sense, when people try to detract a fighter they will make up stupid match ups to make it seem like fanboys are hyping him up. It's trolling 101.

It's like if I made Wilder-Ali match up and everyone says "Lol you comparing Wilder to Ali". People start hating on Wilder for getting overrated. Can't believe you've been here for over 14 years and can't recognize things like this.

No doubt GGG was overhyped, I said that **** at the time myself even as a GGG fan. But these threads were designed to stir the pot even further.

Carlos Monzon, 89-3-9, 61 Ko's, World Middleweight Champion, 1970-1977, 14 Title defenses, had not lost a fight since Oct 9 1964,reversed his 3 losses with victories, went 82 fights without a loss. Decked by two fighters, Jorge Fernandez, Jan 1966, and Rodrigo Valdes July 1977, he defeated both on points. Carlos retired as champion. GGG a good champion would be eating left jabs and counter right hands all night. GG would not even get close enough to connect with any authority. Monzon stops GGG in round 13, If Canelo could beat Golovkin, Carlos would win easily, no matter what anybody says, what counts is the score of the ringside officials. When Carlos Monzon fought Rodrigo Valdes to unify the WBC and WBA World Middleweight Title on June 26 1976, in Monte Carlo, Monaco, Carlos won by unanimous 15 round decision..He repeated the same result on July 30 1977, again in Monte Carlo, Monaco. Monzon won his title on Nov 7 1970 with a 12th round knockout over champion, Nino Benvenuti, Italy. This thread has been done before. So has the one, Marvelous Marvin Hagler vs GGG.

Where did you get your info from, He was dropped by Jorge Fernandez, in Jan 1966, but he got up and won, and Rodrigo Valdes,July 30 1977, Carlos got up and won. Tou need to know your facts, I cannot help it if GGG lost to Canelo Alvarez.

Carlos Monzon beat better fighters. I rate GGG highly, he's a very good/great fighter, but Monzon had a deeper resume in the days of 15 round title fights and his style would be troublsome. I'd pick Monzon to win a three fight series 2-1.

It's a legitimate question. This forum is full of hypothetical matches.

Even if the OP isn't a GGG fan, whose fault is it that GGG stans can't help themselves and have to post **** like GGG KFO Monzon?

    GGG fans just expose themselves.

Some of the posts in the first 3 pages are laughable.
