No contest; Lara, without a shadow of doubt. So far, GGG's resume is no better than a Pre-Froch, Lucien Bute.
Lara, no question. Does it matter? No it doesn't. The cold war prevents that fight from happening. If this thread was aimed at debating both guys' resume, it's a big fail. Nothing to debate. If you instead asked who would win a fight between those two tomorrow night at 160, I'd say Golovkin. "Based on what?", the naysayers of ESB would say... Lara would be Golovkin's most dangerous opponent to date, and Golovkin would be Lara's most dangerous opponent as well. Seeing how Angulo got Lara to deviate from his usual stick and move gameplan, Golovkin's ability to apply smarter pressure (than Angulo) would likely get Lara caught up in big exchanges... and I see Golovkin landing the more telling shots in consideration of his timely punch selection and accuracy (all relative to Lara's previous opponents). "That's pure speculation!", the naysayers of ESB would say... calling the outcome of a fight is always speculation. Instead of having tunnel vision on resumes though, one can speculate by using what they saw in the ring. You called Ward's victory over Kessler? Good on you, it means you chose to disregard resumes for one second and actually assessed the fighters' ability.
Better resume: Lara hands down. Better fighter? That's open to opinion but the likes of Molina doesn't appear to be troubling GGG.
