Froch is one tough mf. The size difference would definitely be apparent. However, he had a competitive fight and was losing on the cards to Taylor. Golovkin is a significantly better boxer than Taylor. Froch would eat a lot of Golovkin's jabs. And I reckon Golovkin's power would translate well to 168 given there is documented evidence, as presented by @Serge, of heavyweights, light heavyweights saying he hits like a truck. The only thing Froch has on Golovkin is size and maybe heart. Whether that is enough to beat Golovkin is debatable.
No matter what way it went, a war would be guaranteed. GGG is as tough and durable as Froch but has much better boxing ability. The size would play a part and Froch would have some success but I think he’d take a beating down the stretch and lose clear on points
Froch could have had that smoke during his "too big. too strong" delusional episode, but notice, he lost his pen just like Eubank did.
This couldn't have been anything other than a classic WAR. Froch had underrated boxing smarts when he felt like he needed to avoid heavy hitters (see against Abraham where Froch boxed beautifully). However, GGG's granite chin, and elite footwork would probably take him to a points win - maybe even SD. Think it would be close, and think it would be a brutal 12 round war of attrition - not dissimilar to Froch vs Kessler
We don't know how GGG would look at the higher weight classes. Froch wasn't great but he was tough and could punch
GGG would probably be the favorite here. But I will go with Froch. Froch is underrated both in terms of boxing ability and ring IQ, and he has the tools to beat GGG (Long powerful jab, steel chin, physical & mental strength) + a considerable size advantage.
Such a great mythical matchup. I'm taking GGG. Crushing, crushing puncher, biggest of the last 25yrs at least. Froch, who I loved, just couldn't get out of the way of that - and nobody could walk through that from 175 on down.
Martin Murray was a punchbag for Golovkin and he went 11 rounds. Froch will take them better and dish out 10x more than Murray
