i'll believe it when I see it this is only a good fight to make because geale has some pedigree, but the barker fight showed geale's limitations geale has also stonewalled twice now (first time to fight mundine, which I thought was okay because he would have made more $$$ from that fight than sturm, Sylvester and golvkin combined, I bet - but the second time geale rejected a golovkin fight was for no good reason, and contradicted his desire to fight him) beating sturm and Sylvester in Germany put him on the map (not that either have ever been world beaters), but now geale has no belts, so he needs to take this fight with golovkin while it's still on the table - if he really is serious about making it
agree, Geale is not @ the same level as prime Martinez, Pavlik or Taylor were but is one of the best MWs in this poor MW division.
most likely GGG vs Martinez, Quillin or Sturm won't happen, so Geale, Murray and Rubio would be some decent fights for GGG if they happen.
I'd favor Geale over any of them at this point TBH. Sturm would be a tough one, for all the crap he gets (deservedly) he can fight some. Martinez injured, Geale just a much better boxer than Quillin or Rubio. Murray lacks work rate and has looked like crap during his tuneups vs regional level guys. (Geales work vs Wood doesnt prove anything but unlike Murray he at least did what he should have done to that level of guy) While I favor GGG heavily over Geale, if there is a guy at 160 right now who can take him the full 12 and have a chance at a decision from work rate and movement its Geale.
