This is stupid, Golovkin gains nothing from such a fight.

    Why would anyone fight Hopkins?

Kovalev was probably the only guy to gain anything from fighting him

He's incredibly boring, talks a great game..... then does ali he can to make the fight a snoozefest

    Turgid

Guess it would be a great way to see how legit G's skills are tho

Well who else should he fight? Has practically cleaned out MW, Cotto won't fight him... The haters want him to be tested, and even a 50 year old Hopkins is a great test. Love this fight.

If true, a really poor decision from GGGs camp. BHop is still a very live opponent and has the skill and physical advantage over GGG. Kov was able to outbox Bhop due to his physical advantages, but GGG gives up a height, weight and reach advantage. I can see a classic Bhop UD. GGG gets smothered, tied up and manhandled in classic Bhop style. GGG will struggle to tee off or hit Bhop flush.

at least Hopkins will test him, and if GGG wins, he can say he beat a former unified MW and LHW champion

Agree across the board. Although, I'm not sure Hopkins truly has much left in the tank.

What weight are they saying? 168?

GGG has good power and can be relentless but he is no Kovalev. He doesn't have those boxing skills and that is what is needed to beat Hopkins. He stamina looks suspect and his defense not so great - a sign of weak skills. He may get lucky and catch Hopkins but I see Hopkins taking him to school.

It doesn't say anything and could just be a promotional ploy. As for Hopkins not having much left in the tank, we know best not to underestimate the Alien. He's ruined many a top prospect and its something he really relishes doing.

Kov was a little too much to handle for Bhop, who is more of a blown up LHW than a natural one like Kov. But he still managed to hang in there with a bigger and more powerful man. He will be able to handle GGG much better and if a bigger and more powerful Kov couldn't put him away, then GGG has a lesser chance.

It all comes down to the weight. The closer it is to 175, the better Hopkins chances.

And I agree and have maintained that Golovkin doesn't pose the type of problems for Hopkins that Kovalev did. Kovalev is much bigger and stronger.
