What a terrible thread featuring some of the absolute worst posters on esb. You are all clueless.

For a start it was the Toney-McCallum rematch which Toney clearly lost and received a gift decision.

    Mendoza,

You’ve turned a blind eye to the performance because he won the fight.

    They were all elite fighters.

Go and look at who else they all troubled and beat.

“He had trouble with Nunn’s speed and outfighting”

    Well of course he did.

    Nunn was a 6’1 southpaw with a 77” reach.

    He was fast and athletic.

    You saw the Ouma fight.

What if GG had fought Nunn, who would have had a 7” reach advantage, along with his great speed and athleticism?

We’ve not even seen GG fight an elite southpaw before.

Getting outboxed by an elite southpaw or a technician like Mike, wasn’t evidence of being a poor boxer.

Getting beaten by a prime Roy Jones wasn’t evidence of being a poor boxer.

WHY would anyone have called for a rematch with Ouma??

Nobody cares if you think that Nunn would have won the rematch. You’re only insisting that because you’re trying to devalue the win.

Toney had issues with elite level boxers.

On the occasions he struggled with fringe contenders, it’s when he wasn’t at his best.

You have ducked my question once again.

If Toney was at his best against Tiberi, then how did he beat his other top level opponents?

Stop ducking and answer the question.

It’s proven that GG has problems with good boxers. It’s also proven that he’s easy to hit and he marks up.

His jab is great if he can land it frequently. But he’s got a short 70” reach and is easy to hit. He’s also not particularly fast.

He doesn’t have the speed or size of Nunn.

He doesn’t have the technical skill of McCallum who was a technician.

The only argument you have is that he was head and shoulders above the low level guys who Toney struggled with. But again, Toney would never have struggled against Tiberi and Williams when at his best.

GG COULD have beaten Toney. But if each guy was at the best that they could have been, the smart money would have been on Toney.

So what if Toney struggled with McCallum who lost 5 times?

    1. He didn’t lose 5 times at MW.

    2. In your opinion, you have Hopkins beating GG, despite the fact that he lost 8 times in his career.

You are tying yourself up in knots and are taking an absolute hammering on this thread.

I don't think Nunn would've won a rematch because Toney had him figured out.

How can you say with any confidence that Reggie wouldn’t have gone the distance with GG?

Again, how many world class southpaws has GG fought?

You are the one who has said that Toney was a top 25 MW who struggled with Reggie due to the styles match up.

So why couldn’t’ GG have struggled too?

    GG is easy to hit.

If you think that GG could have beaten a prime version of Roy Jones at SMW, then there’s just no hope for you. You are utterly deluded.
