Are you saying his durability isn't proven all the way up to heavyweight? Wouldn't surprise me given what I've seen of late.
I get that between the fanboyism and the desperate need to see this thread reach 100 pages, that you're all trying to stretch out this turd as long as possible. That post was a symptom of this collective malady. Despite actual footage of Toney being knocked flat on his ass being posted on this thread, and the fact that Golovkin has never touched ground either in his extensive amateur career nor his pro career, the fanclub persists in peddling such obvious twaddle. Sad.
Dunno about you, but I can certainly see Denis Lebedev stopping the GGG that was just hurt by Derevyanchenko. And I can't see any GGG going the distance with Rahman or Peter. Or Jones, actually.
If Toney is at his best, l lean towards Toney on points, very close. If Toney is anything but his very best, l lean towards GGG on points. GGG holds his own in any era.
GGG won the interim world title over weak opposition, then was immediately upgraded to WBA regular champ, that's where his title defenses began. The WBA made Felix Sturm the super champ so he didn't have to fight GGG. Later Felix Sturm fought a unification with Daniel Geale the IBF champ and lost. Daniel Geale amediatly vacated the WBA super title to avoid fighting mandatory GGG.So I think unofficially or Officially GGG became WBA super champ, and that was right before the Rosado. So if you count the Rosado fight as the first title defense GGG is 15 title defenses (13) by KO and if you count from the beginning after they upgraded GGG from interim to regular GGG has 20 successful title defenses 18 by KO. When Geale did decide to fight GGG for his title, he got taken out in three rounds. Geale had no belts at that time. Some silly posters tend to think GGG became champ after the Geale win, but that makes no sense because Geale was just a challenger. Its just a way of pretending GGG'S reign started later than it did. I give him credit fo 20 defenses myself.
I suppose so, Toney was great defensively and real busy, and had a great chin but it would be razor close .That's why I say if Toney had trouble making weight then GGG could take it. Both are great fighters from different era's.
The Super WBA title was vacant at the time so it was up for grabs when GGG and Geale fought. . That win elevated GGG to Super WBA Champ. Thats why people mention the Geale fight , it was that fight in whcih GGG was upgrade to full WBA Champ. It was like the time Klitschko beat Haye for the full WBA title. Chagaev and then Povetkin held the regular WBA title at the same time.
Geal was nothing but a challenger and former unfied champ nothing more. GGG was the true WBA true CHAMP at the time. Sturm was rewarded for running, Geale beat Sturm, Geale gave up his WBA SUPER BELT and ran for the hills, then Canelo gave up his WBC belt and ran for the hills, notice a trend? GGG was the champ
