If GGG retires today, he belongs in the elite all time list. Just like Joe, Duran, Pacman, FMJ, Rocky. etc...
Just because you disagree, won't make it reality. He's had a decade of dominance. He might not have has many names as Hagler, but that's due to the era we're in. Also, GGG knocks out MW Hearns, Duran and will more than likely lose a close decision to SRL at MW. He's one of the ATG whether you like it or not.

Especially the ones he doesn't see coming. GGG would be scared to let his hands go against a guy as quick and hit as hard as RJJ. His workrate would drop to career low and a knockdown isn't out of the question as well.

Nobody faced Hagler during his era of dominance until Duran(A 147lber), Hearns(LHW) and than SRL( moved up to face him. If he retired without those names he'd still be classed as elite. Just as GGG is.
Its not going to happen until he retires of course and Canelo and Jacobs go on to have very good careers themselves. I even think Brook will move up to 154lbs shortly and dominate that division until he retires. After that will Brook be as good as a name as Duran on Hagler's record as Brook is to GGG? I think so because both of them are naturally smaller, and have been dominant in their weight classes, just as Brook has. This brings me to Spence, if he truly is special and ends up undefeated till he retires and cleans out 3 divisions, what will that do for Brooks legacy against him? It'll be like the loss Duran had to SRL.

Until these guys have retires, we'll never know, but... GGG because of his dominance will go down as one of the elite. Even Ottke has a claim for that, even Wilder may have if he KO's King Kong and retires. Tyson Fury is already there. If Fury never boxes again he'll go down as one of the best HW's ever after his fight with Wlad, because I presume Joshua is going to rule the HW boxing scene for the next decade and Wlad was without a doubt his best matchup so far, and Fury handled him like a boy.

The day Martinez refused to fight GGG was the day he lost the Lineal title. Its like an unspoken code in boxing. You may like guys hogging titles and refusing to face the best but GGG has never ducked anybody. Ward refused to meet him at C-W. Even though he had no problem dragging down Dawson to face him at 168lbs.

GGG was a non-factor when Martinez was at the top. By the time Golovkin got into contention , Sergio was old (38) , injured and on the way out.
There was no duck... GGG on top for the last EIGHT Years , yeah?? :risas3:

Sergio wasn't shot when GGG held IBO and WBA title belts.

While I appreciate the thought you put into this post, I still find it not to actually address the two fighters, but instead attempts to downplay Toney based solely on his resume.

GGG would have a very difficult time out-jabbing Toney simply because Toney would have the longer arms. Both men had / has good jabs. So, when you have a two men with good jabs, the fighter with the longer arms will win that contest (generally).

Toney has a very long history of effective counter-punching and we've just witnessed GGG getting the out countered by a smaller man with shorter arms. GGG is also an orthodox fighter who does not have a tricky style and loves throwing the ole one - two, which is fodder for the shoulder roll.

GGG is strong, but so is Toney. GGG will not be able to simply push Toney to the ropes, and even if he did, Toney is probably the worse person you'd want to play that game with.

GGG does not have good head movement. Target practice for the much more accurate Toney.

GGG turtles up and does not punch while his opponents are punching. Toney would get through just like many others have and would not get much return fire coming his way.

Styles makes fights and I don't see how GGG's style would beat Toney's. If so, please explain it to me.

James Toney at 160 is a top 70 ATG?

    Seriously?

You're going to tell me to learn boxing and then try to sell THAT?

Dude, stay attached to your history and fantasies.

In the real world, he went life and death with old McCallum, struggled and got dropped vs Reggie Johnson (who was a very good fighter, don't get me wrong), and needed a robbery vs Tiberi. It's not impossible to have him 0-4 in those fights (The cards on McCallum 2 were criminally wide) or 1-3. His best win at the weight, he was down on the cards. He moves up to 168 and gets schooled by Roy, his best win probably being old Iran Barkley who'd go on to lose 4 of his next 7 afterward.

If that's an ATG legacy, why spend years hating on Golovkin? You should be one of his biggest fanboys. Fact is, James Toney revitalized things at CW and HW, but those fights are at a weight and time so far removed from his 160 days that it's worthless to bring up for a 160 fight.

Show me ANYWHERE in reality that says Toney dominates a great middleweight, because reality sure isn't. I'm not saying he doesn't have good wins there, but they were struggles and he caught breaks on the cards routinely.

And I'm supposed to buy he beats GGG wide or stops him?

Your fantasy, Pimp. Like Burger King, have it your way.

Fast, slick and cagey fighters gave Toney problems, all qualities GGG lacks.

    Lights Out schools this hypejob.

Sergio was shot in 2013 when he beat Murray. GGG didn't obtain his WBA belt until 2014 when he won it off Geale.

James Toney is anywhere between top 70 to 80 yes he's a ATG and much better than anyone GGG has ever fought. Don't get mad at me that you made a ridiculous post about how GGG would beat Toney a guy who would have his way with GGG on the inside and counter him to hell and back and not take nearly as much in return.

Mike McCallum is another ATG who's better than anyone GGG beat and better than GGG as well. He's a top 3 ATG at 154. He would be incredibly difficult fight for GGG and I'd tip him to beat GGG based on his ability to go to the body.

There's a reason why most people aren't agreeing with you here. You're not a bad poster but you're being stubborn here for whatever reason. If you weren't so stubborn you might actually learn something.
