Toney's competition at MW was generally weak as you put it. He has a draw against Williams(lol), a hail Mary to save himself from a defeat to Nunn. A win over Johnson and the bouts with MM. That's it. This is the MW version of Toney people are voting for to beat 2013 GGG!?!?

Is Jacobs as good as Nunn? They are both similar styles. And knock out plenty of people, been knocked out themslsves with flush, clean shots. Johnson is another journeyman who's only decent win was against drained Collins.

The only decent name Toney fought at MW was Nunn and McCallum. That's Toney's level at MW. Would Nunn and McCallum beat 2013 GGG? I don't think they stand a chance to be perfectly honest with you.

    Too many GGG fanboys.

What exactly does GGG bring that Toney has problems with?

We've seen what GGG has problems with counterpunchers and he has a tendency to wait while his opponents finishes punching before he throws his own, if he doesn't slip the punch. You can't do that with Toney. Toney also has a more educated jab. He varies the speed and target of his jabs, plus Toney has the longer reach (I believe). Canelo was able to counter over GGG's jab... what do you think will happen with a master counterpuncher like Toney? Come on people.

Again, we're talking about prime Toney, so please stop bringing up Toney's worse performances.

STOP BRING UP TONEY'S WORST PERFORMANCES? Why? To stop reminded you how overrated he was? You're using the Canelo fight to judge GGG's performance, this is the worst GGG he's ever been. If you want to stick to prime 2013 GGG, I may stick to prime Toney.

In hypothetical matchups, it's normal to go by the best version at that weight.

What year was Toney in his prime during his MW run?

That's fair enough, I'm guessing the "prime" version of Toney was the one who was smacking around bums, and not drawing matches with them, and losing heavily on cards to superior boxers?

No, to stop bringing up a fight that does NOT provide a good representation of Toney's capabilities. There was nothing in the Canelo fight that showed me anything new with GGG or anything we've not seen before from him. GGG does NOT move his head much. He's always been very hittable. He's always turtles up with someone is throwing combos at him.

Its called blocking punches, he's very underrated in that department. If I'm not allowed to use past prime Toney to gauge this potential matchup,. you sure as hell ain't using past prime GGG to win this debate. What flaws in 2013 GGG do you see, that will work in Toney's favour?

You've never watched him fight as a MW have you? Your questions doesn't make sense, for the simple fact that you are combining two things, being in his prime, and being at MW.

The prime of a fighter is when he's at his physical peak. His best years at MW where in the early 90's.

Are you capable of bering serious here? All you seem to do is want to try and discredit James toney. Look, it's OK to like both 3G and James Toney. One need not choose sides, they aren't competing against one another in anything.

Blocking punches with your face isn't a sign of skill.

Cherry picking a bad performance where Toney didn't fight as he normally does is BS and not a representation of Toney at his best. GGG did well against Canelo. Do you believe this was his worse fight? Why, because he took shots? This ain't the first time GGG got hit. Plus, all of the cracks in GGGs armor has always been there, his past opponents that he completely destroyed just didn't have the skill or ability to expose them. As soon as he stepped up in comp, all of his flaws became more clear.

Did you not read my post? I gave you 3 reason why Toney would beat GGG right there.

A boxing fans view point may differ from mine when it comes to GGG's prime, I think he was at his absolute best in 2013 but some posters here may think he was a better fighter before that and I would understand why.

I've watched plenty of James Toney, I want to know when his peak was is all. So this is the Toney that was losing to Nunn, drawing with Williams and beating the journeyman Johnson, and having close fights with MM?
    Interesting.

Ohhh, I see. Its ok to discredit GGG, but Toney gets a bye for his poor performances, GOTCHA.
