Can you STOP with the utterly failed argument already?

When you been shown you are entirely wrong, its not smart to still go with your failed idea.

I'm a GGG fan, I would root for him vs Toney, but of course he can't be favoured against Toney.

Yes, GGG has lost a step, and yes, he's a tough fight for anyone, but I think those voting GGG don't realize how good peak Toney actually was. Yes, he was inconsistent, and yes, he did his best work above 160 lb, but we are talking about a peak Toney - and peak Toney was really incredibly good - that's why he was able to go up so far and still have great success.

Watch a bit of Toney (credit to @escudo) and then come back:

THAT is peak Toney to me as well. The one at 168lbs. Does MW Toney beat MW GGG?

is that an answer to me, or to the fight result?

Are you effectively saying "screw reality, I dont care about it!". Not smart.

ahhh the old "would have" . So you admit that you are ONLY using your imagination here, not facts.

thanks for destroying your argument again.

    IF.
Yet Martinez fought cotto and pavlik, both very dangerous arguably elite. Maybe he did avoid 3G briefly when he was back from injury. Who wouldnt avoid a tough opponent on return from injury?. Lets look at the rest of the crud u wrote....
Froch is to you a ducker, this the same froch who fought ...WAIT... we are talking about FROCH. He is the living embodiment of anti-duck. Why are you trying to pretend that Carl frekin Froch is a duck artist??
Cotto in your book apparently is a ducker..yet Cotto had no issue facing Martinez, Judah, Mosley, Margarito, PACMAN, MAYWEATHER . oh and Canelo.

    COME ON!!

the jacobs who lost to 3G? I think you will find that the lineal is Canelo who did much better than jacobs vs 3G, and is a better fighter with a better reusme to boot. So NO failed contender Jacobs would certainly not be lineal MW champ.

For the last frekin time, MIchael Nunn is not a failed contender!

Nunn may look similar to someone who can't spot the differences but Nunn was quite different. Firstly Nunn was significantly taller and rangier than Jacobs. Nunn relied far more on his reflexes and was for more unorthodox, he could hit you unexpectedly when out of position at weird angles. Jacobs is far more conventional as well as being orthodox unlike the southpaw Nunn.

Reggie Johnson was a 2 weight world champion, he was in no way a journeymen. A journeymen wouldn't of beaten Collins.

McCallum at his best would school GGG just like Toney would. McCallum is far better than the likes of Canelo and Jacobs.

Yeah, I actually think so, by UD, not a schooling, but not controversial. Of course with GGG's power he's always got a puncher's chance, but I can't pick him. My reasons are:

    1) Toney still has some good names at MW, e.g. Nunn, McCallum, all elite. We don't know just how good Canelo and Jacobs will turn out, sure, but so far they are lesser fighters than those two.

    2) I get your point but I think what a fighter did at the higher weights ought to count for something too. If GGG beat Ward at LHW that would improve his H2H standing even at MW for me.

    3) A little bit of eye-test too, to these eyes it seems a tough match-up for GGG.

When GGG fought Jacobs and Canelo... HE WAS PAST HIS BEST. What part of this are you missing? I don't care if you want to use those names to judge how well he will do against prime Toney, because its an unfair comparison seeing as one of them is past their gdamn prime.

Johnson beat drained Collins. He's had a few world title reigns, so has Broner and John Ruiz!

Nunn and Jacobs fight of the backfoot and throw bombs while staying out of range. I find that a 50/50 bout, if you want to think nunn steam-rolls him, that's your prerogative. We'll never know.

People picking Golovkin are truly delusional, or never saw a prime Toney at his best.

funny how him being past his best coincides with him fighting 2 near to top/top fighters.
Tomorrow if he goes back to fighting IBO bums, he 'll guess wat start knocking them all out early again! And what you going to say then - 3G has magically got younger??

You ought to be happy that 3G has at last given you evidence for him being elite by drawing with Canelo. Lets see he can add to that. But for goodness sake dont start saying hes knocking out ATGs.

That's what I originally thought too, which is why I posted the Toney-Barkley fight.

Seems that some have seen it but still pick Golovkin, no offense but I can't see how you can favour Golovkin.

Great batch of fighters. What did you score Collins/Johnson(controversial fight) Late 80s-early 90s was such a good time for MW.

    Ilikeboxing,

I don't need to put in any effort.

What's happening here, is that you're defending your favourite fighter, but without having any knowledge of James's career, whilst also not being willing to take on board any information that's been provided by people who don't share the same oponion.

Take a step back, and start again.

We can all have an objective debate.

If you've read my posts over the years, you'd know that GG is one of my favourite current fighters. I've dedicated hours of my spare time on here defending him against irrational haters like Shockmaster etc.

I'm not on a mission to devalue GG.

Regarding Nunn and Jacobs, no, they aren't similar. Just stop. Nunn was a rangy southpaw, with slick skills and great reflexes.

No, Jacobs isn't an A level fighter. Get real.

Yes, GG should definitely have been awarded a win over Canelo. In my opinion, he won that fight. I think Adalaide Byrd should be ashamed of herself, and I think she should never be allowed near a boxing ring again. So I give GG credit for beating Canelo, who proved to me that he can cut it with the best MW's. But the point I was making, was that despite GG winning the fight, Canelo pushed him and it was a close, competitive fight. All of which means that it would be silly for anybody to claim that Nunn and McCallum wouldn't have stood a chance of beating GG.

    Stop embarrassing yourself.

Do you know what the definition is of a journeyman?

Reggie Johnson was a world class fighter.

Where have I said that Nunn would have ran through Jacobs?

You're so defensive, you're inventing things that's never been said.

Again, when Nunn was at his best, before things in his personal life started to affect his boxing career, he was on another level to Danny Jacobs. Technically, there were hardly any similarities. You can't have seen Nunn's fights.

If you think he'd have beaten Mike, that's up to you. But again, it would be completely ignorant to state that you don't think he'd have stood a chance.

Mike was a proven, A-level fighter, an A-level fighter the likes of who GG has never fought, and a fighter who was a step up from the likes of Danny Jacobs and Canelo Alvarez.

Toney was a much better boxer at 168lbs You can't use that video to state MW Toney beats GGG at 160lbs
Ironically, Collins become a much better boxer at 168lbs as well. I'd bet my house on him not losing to Reggie Johnson at that weight when he was smashing the **** out of Benn and Eubank.

I've already told you that I think Golovkin is in decline so you can keep holding onto that to deflect from your lack of knowledge and insight but that isn't going to work. Your'e exposing how little you know about the sport with each post. No reply in regards to your assertion a 2 weight world champion is a journeymen?

So John Ruiz and Broner both world champions are now journeymen according to you? You're either trolling or know nothing about boxing. Do you even know what the definition of a journeymen is? Doesn't seem like it. You may like boxing but you don't know **** about boxing if you don't even know what a journeymen is.

As for Nunn/Jacobs why are you insinuating I said Nunn would steam roll Jacobs I never said that, creating false assertions to defend an opinion is a clear sign of a desperate argument.

Though Kalambay fought in the manner you described Jacobs and Nunn flattened Kalambay. So by your own logic however flawed, Nunn steam roll Jacobs, lol. Name one fighter Jacobs has beat that was as good as Kalambay let alone Nunn?

Let's agree to disagree. I've already stated my reasons, and I don't think we'll convince each other. No offense meant - it was all respectful discussion; cheers.
