Question is in the title but it bears repeating: Why did Kell Brook, who is a talented boxer and knowledgeable about the sport, draw attention to his injury immediately after it happened? I would think most boxers are taught to conceal injuries but he kept pawing at it. I’m not trying to knock him, just understand why Brook did what he did. I got around to rewatching it after Crawford ko’d Brook and just never understood why he gave GGG that information. Why he gave GGG a target? Was it simply that he had no poker face? Thoughts... keep it civil as I know how mentioning GGG can draw trolls.
Maybe it was really painful and he couldn't help himself. He wouldn't be the first guy that suddenly develops a glass jaw after getting their orbital bust. That said I agree with the OP. If Brook wanted to go on he should have played a poker face.
When his face started caving in and he could feel the heaviness of the shots, maybe he began to panic because he knew the roof was caving in on him. GGG was gaining momentum ,not slowing down.
I guess it's hard to conceal a broken bone in your face when you're getting punched. He was never going to beat Golovkin regardless. It was a strange fight for Brook to take at that point in his career.
It must have been a very painful injury, a broken orbital. Reminds me of Billy Backus injury at the hands of Jose Pipino Cuevas in 1978.
