2011-2015 version of GGG stops Pavlik late with a grueling beat down. Current version of Gennady UDs him.
It's amazing that these guys are only a few days apart in terms of age considering the fact that Kelly has been done for some time now and GGG is at the height of his popularity. Should the fight have taken place with both guys at their best I would have to favor Golovkin to win by stoppage. Though Kelly would have a significant height and reach advantage over Golovkin, G has a great sense of distance and timing. I believe he would block a lot of Pavlik's punches as Kelly came forward with his signature one-two's. As much as I loved Kelly as a fighter, even I have to admit he was one-dimensional. Golovkin would land some brutal counters on Pavlik as KP came in. Should GGG catch KP with a punch like Taylor did he would close the show no doubt. Now I get the argument that no one has ever really backed G up before and Kelly was proficient at putting his opponents on the backfoot with his relentless pressure and firepower. While this is a valid point, Kelly never did that to someone who hits as hard as Golovkin. Fighters know that when you come into GGG you get destroyed, which is why the two guys who have had the most success against him fought largely off the backfoot and countered.
ggg chin wins him this fight. cuz they both can throw down an both can box. ggg jab an chin is better. an most likely ggg punching power is more stronger as well. but we dont really no that for sure but im confident in saying ggg chin an jab and prolly harder punch. ggg wins a decision if its prime pavlik.
Pavlik was not great if he was being outboxed, but guys who came at him somehow he got to them. They would put their guard down and he would land a huge punch. GGG might be surprised here.
Well he put a beating on Murray who has been in with Sturm, Martinez, Abraham and Groves without being stopped...
His boxing skills are irrelevant in this debate.... Sturm & Martinez (2 top MWs) couldn't stop him and arguably lost to him. Abraham who was a top MW and SMW couldn't stop him. Groves (who dropped iron chinned Froch) couldn't drop or stop Murray.... GGG had him down numerous times and then stopped him.
Much respect to Pavlik. I was a big fan of his and enjoyed being at his AC fights with Taylor (first one) and Hopkins. Golovkin either wins a UD or stops him late in a grueling encounter though. Pavlik can be hit too easily and did not have the boxing IQ that GGG does.
