ggg gets boring and moves up to super middleweight.
Kessler asks, "Who the hell is that guy with the smiley face?" and invites him to a fight.

Ggg says he should respect boxing and accepts the challenge.

Kessler was big and durable and should go the distance. He also beat Carl Froch and a few other good super middles so he not without a chance

I really wouldn’t be surprised if Golovkin got in there and was completely ineffective in terms of power and presence unlike at 160lbs.

That’s because Kessler is proven to be elite at 168lbs, and beat but names, he also had an underrated defence, he didn’t get hit clean much.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Golovkin appears completely neutralised here, and isn’t able to just walk Kessler down and bludgeon him as many would expect.

Kessler was past his prime by 2011.

Kessler was at his best circa 05-07.

I'd take that 05-07 version of Kessler over Golovkin as Golovkin proved absolutely nothing at 168 and showed no willingness to test himself at 168.

Golovkin's 168 exploits were confined to the amateurs until late in his career. That said, he did savage Lucian Bute at 168 in the ams which is a decent feather in the cap. I think he'd be plenty competitive with Kessler, who was a very fine fighter in his own right.

By 2011 Kessler wasn't the same fighter. He was getting hit way more than he did in his prime and he had some really rough fights with Ward and Froch where he sustained some injuries that really affected him. Post 2011, he only fought three more times.

With that said, prime for prime, I'm still taking GGG but it would be competitive.

I'm going to say I am actually very suspicious that someone of Golovkin's (Or Nelo's) dimensions and attributes is going to beat a 2011 Kessler either. Kessler developed wrinkles to his game after he'd been physically depleted and banged around quite a bit and they'd be just the right kind of wrinkles that are going to give Golovkin, at his speed and size, problems. What wrinkles? It's easiest to articulate this by quoting Jeanne Calment, once considered likely the oldest woman in the world, who is believed to have died at age 122. She said she "only had one wrinkle" and she "was sitting on it." But multiply that, multiply it by one of the numbers, and you will know what I am saying about Kessler. That is all you need me to articulate. But if that isn't enough, I will further gesticulate your vesicles or die trying. Come at me, bro.

Fan of both. In his prime i believe Kessler had the best 1-2 in boxing. G is better though. G takes over by mid fight for a UD though wouldn't rule out a stoppage
