Stylistically both guys would be a nightmare for eachother but 3G should be able to catch solid Lara's chin and then its good night Lara !

    Very intriguing fight.

This^. Could be a very interesting fight, but since GGGs the bigger draw it'd be Lara coming to him at 160, though I don't think Lara fights much smaller than GGG anyway.

Very interesting styles match-up and in terms of skill Erislandy is the best GGG would have faced.

What makes you think Canelo will duck Lara? Because he fought Trout, a dangerous fighter with no fan base? or mayweather, the best boxer in the game?

this fight is one of those fights that the one thing thats literally impossible to occur is anything resembling a "war" lara doesnt have a prayer in hell or heaven at taking a single flush ggg power shot.

i have a hard time envisioning lara taking clean ggg jabs without issues. ggg would completely destroy lara and i talking as soon as lara has the nuts to throw anything more than a right jab straight left he will be caught and the first time he is caught will be the last second he is still an active participant in this mismatch of a ggg showcase.

fight is utterly useless to me but for some crazy reason it will open on lot of ESB members eyea. ggo figure, some on here want and get excited for some of the most useless fights ever then totally ***** and complain about fights that hae the ability to be very interesting.

oh well, to each his own

For all we know Richard Shaeffer probably got ahold of Lara's twitter account and posted that. Soften Lara up for Alvarez, if not completely get him taken out.

Well, in terms of skill there's hardly anybody out there who could be considered better than Lara. This would be a HUGE step up. Awesome, awesome fight if true.

very intriguing matchup. i hope for the step aside fee too. too bad lara is somewhat in gbp's plans and ggg is hugely in hbo's plans with a kirkland fight after lee most likely. potential geale/jcc fights on horizon.

Yeah, GBP aint gonna exactly raise the Showtime roof with Lara......he's not an altogether "exciting" fighter. I understand his skills are what pays the bills, but he aint bringing up Showtime stock with his style.

However, the risk/reward for GBP here is minimal with potential for HUGE dividends.

-First......breaks the barrier to making inter-network/inter-promoter fights for GBP.
-Second...Should Lara win, even at a catch weight, capturing the recognized MW title would open him up for a MEGA fight with Floyd that would actually be worth Floyd taking the risk to fight for the MW Championship.
Third....Even if Lara gets starched, so long as he makes it entertaining/close, he raises his own stock. When guys like Lara are willing to put it all on the line like this, even in defeat they win.

As for how K2 would consider the risk/reward factors here......

Lara is a big LMW, whereas GGG is a smallish MW. Not such a big jump in size, especially at say 157/158. Ishiida was boxing very nicely before he succumbed to the power.....Lara 10X< Ishiida, especially at maintaining distance.

If I were K2 I'd be leary of taking this one....especially if they can't agree on particulars....weight, purse split, network. GGG would be very wise to agree for Canelo or Floyd at 154, but Lara not so much. There's not near the $$$$, and as Ive said before, Lara carries his weight, whereas Floyd is pushing it, and Canelo is just a cashcow, yet trashcan in comparison. :think

Great fight for both though if they can work out the kinks....I have no doubt that BOTH fighters are licking their chops at the opportunity.....let's see if the promoters are as well.:think

Don't underestimate the Cubano Slickster here.......

GGG aint winning a rd until catches up to Lara, especially at a weight under 160.

Might not be a bigger GGG fan on this board than me......but if Ishiida and Ouma can outbox GGG, than Lara will clown him until he's caught.:think

Kirkland has a bigger fan base than Lara and he's an american but him vs 3G is a totally mismatch. Garbage fight but good for 3G's exposure.

Lara and Canelo are the only 154'ers that I really want to see fighting Gennady. Unlucky both are SHO/GBP fighters.

p.s at this moment Chavez Jr is LHW or a cruiserweight.

You're all talking like GGG needs to "just catch him once and its good night".

GGG is not a murderous one punch artist, he breaks people down with accumulation.
Again, this is just another LMW, but I kind of like this fight and hey, Lara called him out.

Lara's boxing skill and slickness make this fight so intriguing but but if a guy like Angulo was able to catch and drop Lara, imagine what a skilful-accurate fighter like Genna, who's also a master at cutting the ring off would do to Lara ?

No he's right, he can KO somebody with a 1 punch but it's rare. He's not an explosive puncher but a clubbing puncher, a bit like Vitali.
