Which beast would prevail? How does the fight play out?

i'd love to see the mugabi from the hagler fight & hagler from the hearns fight & duran from the barkley fight go up against triple G.

    Barkley vs Golovkin also great...

or how about Benn vs Golovkin

TOney Jones etc would wipe GGG out

Mugabi would knock him out. Golovkin is too open for a big shot. He's gonna get brutally KO'd if he fights big punchers.

Yeah, I'm not ready to put GGG up against the likes of the Fab 4, but I'm beginning to come around to the idea that he might at least be better than the next rung down, like Mugabi and Barkley.

i don't know why people insist on reiterating the flawed assumption that triple G would take his typical defensive gambits vs known dangerous punchers. the guy is obviously not an idiot.

Perhaps, but I've never seen Golovkin even buzzed. Hagler had good power, but I would give Golovkin the nod in the power department, and he was able to progressively chop down Mugabi while handling his power fine.

In a fire fight, I would give Golovkin the edge over Mugabi. At least until I see Golovkin's limit when it comes to punch resistance.

Stevens is widely regarded as the second biggest puncher at middleweight and GGG didn't a seem lot more defensive than usual.

His defense was subtle, but much more sound than it is when he doesn't respect his opponents power. He fought a great defensive fight and Curtis couldn't land more than a handful of shots on him.

GGG would dismantle Mugabi in Hagler-esque fashion. It's the difference between someone who's just a puncher and someone who is a high-class operator with game-changing power.

They're still clinging to their hopes that he's only a one-dimensional slugger.

It's more comforting than admitting he's a different kind of beast altogether. :hey

I don't disagree. GGG's defence comes mainly from his footwork and mastery of distance. He's very good at staying just a little bit out of range and then stepping at an angle to suddenly get in range. He never hops, never bounces, never runs - he just strides into and out of range. Essentially he turns the ring into two triangles and steps along the hypotenuse.

But I wonder how he would fare against someone who has equally good or better footwork, like a Ward, who knows how to stay FAR out of range and then launch a quick attack and crowd you. I don't see any of that becoming a factor in a hypothetical Mugabi fight, but I wonder about that in a Ward fight.

    Who ever lands first

If I had to put money on it I'd be going for Golovkin

Way too many votes for GGG by KO. Go and watch Hagler vs Mugabi.
