Just read on twitter from a Quebec sport reporter that HBO refused Oosthuizen for Golovkin. Anybody heard of that? WTH's going on with HBO?

Edit: Which Quebec sport reporter? Does he have a name or does he go by the name Quebec report reporter?

Yeah that's what I thought.. It must have something to do with the fact Oosthuizen isn't american.. But.. GGG isn't either, is he? Or maybe HBO had someone in mind for Golovkin, or maybe.. I don't know.. They want him to stay at 160?

Disappointing, that would have been a good fight. I remember seeing that Oosthuizen and Rodriguez were both in the running to face Golovkin on that date. Its possible HBO prefered Rodriguez since he's been on HBO 2 times(I think) and I don't think Oosthuizan has ever been. Golovkin-Rodriguez is just as good of a fight if thats the direction HBO is looking.

I agree,GGG should not be moving up or down in weight just to stay active, plenty of good Middleweights out there for him to fight just have to get one who has the courage to step up to the Plate and make it happen.!!!!!

apparently negotiations hit a snag and things were far from complete enough for a January fight but yeah the fight seems to be off sucks.

Good. Golovkin is a small middleweight and there's plenty of potentially great fights to be made at that weight.

I dont know why HBO rejects it though. Didnt they suggest this foolish matchup in the first place?

They will cancel Oostuhizen and give the go ahead to a lesser ranked fighter. Wait and see.

Odd. This was a great fight on paper. Hopefully Golovkin gets a decent MW - I remember hearing there were talks with Macklin but he's due for a surgery or something?

Wasn't it supposed to be at 168 since Oosthuizen refused the catch weight? .. Anyway.. No fight = no catch weight..
