Yeah since I'm 77% accurate in fight predicting, that means people should listen to my opinion over yours. At least I publically state who I'm predicting for every fight, including guys you have never heard of, and you're too much of a coward to say anything other than the black guy or the Non EE guy regardless of their race or ethnicity wins over and over and over and over to the point of redundancy, no one should listen to yours.
I lean toward GGG late stoppae but it would have been a good fight for sure. Although I'm not a fan of saying defensive minded boxing is 'pure' boxing. But that's another story I guess
It´s really difficult to see how Pavlik could be competitive on this one. He was too slow and too predictable for Golovkin. GGG has much better skills and ring IQ, levels above Pavlik.
I tend to agree with you, however, Kelly did have some awesome tools to work with and I have no doubt if he managed to survive past the first quarter of the fight that he'd find a window to land a straight right on GGG which would create an interesting wrinkle. GGG isnt exactly Wilfredo Benitez when it comes to defense though his is a solid defensive fighter with subtle moves that keep him from harms way. In conclusion he Kelly will find the target and his physical tools alone combined with his known determination would make things "fun" before he ultimately succumbs to GGG's measured pressure.
Golovkin by accumulation stoppage from 9 -11. Pavlik was tough but basic, Golovkin is the better boxer and puncher, plus in this fight he won't have to go looking for KP. Be a competitive fight for the first 3 to 5 rounds but I think Golovkin would start to take over with his power and precision.
I wouldnt be shocked if the scores where pretty tight before the stoppage, it doesnt take a wizard to outbox Kelly but GGG can't physically operate like Sergio and doesn't have Hopkins gritty defensive craft so he's bound to get into a dangerous exchange that may or may not cause a shaky moment or two stopping him in his tracks. I can't really envision GGG being stopped since he's never shown that vulnerability but Brook did hit him with certain shots that made him quite uncomfortable, those sort of shots coming from Kelly with greater leverage, same solid technique with greater power wouldnt be considered ideal for GGG. Just my 2 cents.....
Also we have yet to see GGG put on the back foot in a physical sense and Pavlik was as big as they get at 160.
I'll check boxr*c but I'm sure Kelly was about 6'3 with good power especially with his straight right with his length and height he's certain to touch GGG chin. Still Kelly was quite terrible at flowing between defense and offense and that's exactly when Golovkin would take over, during those clueless transitions he went through in a fight.
Tough one to call. The Pavlik who was hungry and who fought Miranda, I think would be a tough fight for Golovkin. The Golovkin that was facing Lemieux was impressive. I would slightly favour that version of Pavlik, but wouldnt bet either way.
True enough. I don't take time to make predictions for the nobodies like when Whyte vs Chrisora or Eubank Jr. Vs Nobody, but it's too easy to predict a Golovkin fight, for well known reasons. I tend only to predict for the big fights or the truly talented vs opponent like Garcia-Thurman (Garcia). Unlike you, although my ancestors are Asian, I don't always root for the Asian or hype them to the point of infinity. The US European descendent commentators definitely don't hype them as they do EEs, so EEs don't need my support receive enough hype until like Kovalev, they prove themselves. My approach is definitely more BALANCED and yields a 90% accuracy. Believe me. Pavlik was much too big and strong for Golovkin and would have KO'ed him. Golovkin cannot do a Martinez imitation. Oops, Pavlik is of Euro extraction. I shouldn't have made that prediction.
Kelly Pavlik style wise would probably be the first opponent that was large/strong enough and disciplined enough to be able to walk Golovkin down. Golovkin would have to take a lot of incoming and be able to fire back successfully to beat Pavlik. There's some size and speed limitations. Pavlik was beat by Sergio (at a distinct speed disadvantage) and Bernard (a size, speed and skill disadvantage). He was also given hell of trouble by Jermain (another size, speed disadvantage that he managed to overcome after some rough moments). Golovkin wouldn't have these same advantages, indeed he'd have a distinct size disadvantage and he's coming in with a stalker who jabs consistently and is a big hitter. That would be a 50/50 fight, I'd say even maybe slight advantage to Pavlik, seeing how he's handled punishment and come back from it with enough strength to still wreck his opponent. Pavlik is more fire-tested.
