GGG vs Ray Robinson

HBO sure has tapped into a clownish fanbase with this overrated Golovkin character.

 

I can see why people refer to him as the greatest fighter of all time, from the footage it really does look like he had everything.

 

That wrap-around punch to the back was lethal.

I think Robinson was the best middleweight of all time. He would have beat Hagler, Greb, Monzon, Ketchel etc. He would beat GGG but Golovkin would be top name on his resume.

 

Ray beats him in both era's , its not close.

I know that :1) 5'8" is how tall Fuller is
2) Same day weight in means he will be around 160 give or that a few LBs. when he enters the ring.
3) That's is about the same weight the larger WW come in the ring, a DAY AFTER the weight-in.
4) Meaning todays WW are about the same size as yesterday's middleweights WHEN THEY ENTER THE RING.


Today's middleweight usually come in the ring about 170 or more.:thumbsup

I thought most everyone on here thought Floyd Mayweather Jr. was the greatest.

 

It's interesting how nostalgic boxing fans are compared to other sports.

In no other sport is the idea that the best athletes from the 1940s would be superior to the best of the present taken seriously.

Golovkin is too big, too strong.

Robinson in his prime went 10 and 15 rounds with all kinds of welterweight nobodies, not just guys with iron chins. Anyone who thinks he hit as hard as Golovkin is completely delusional, it's not even close. And Robinson wore 6 ounce gloves, while Golovkin wears 10 ounces gloves.

Prime Robinson was also knocked down by welters like Tommy Bell. And Jake Lamotta and Joey Maxim were thoroughly featherfisted, so they can't be compared to Golovkin. Stylistically, Robinson was not a runner or a defensive fighter. He would try to fight Golovkin and take big risks. It wouldn't work out well for him, in my opinion.

 

This place attracts more crazy people than Area 51:rofl:rofl:rofl

So ......a 31 y/o fighter with Macklin as his best win, would be too much for the GOAT.

This is taking nutt-huggery to a whole new dimension.

Gabe Rosado was DESTROYED in 2 rounds by slow-motion Angulo and couldn't touch the guy.

It took GG 7 rounds and endswell between rounds.

 

Robinson is much smaller, doesn't hit as hard, and doesn't take a punch as well as Golovkin. These are not opinions, they are facts. You don't see Golovkin getting dropped by welterweights. The average size of Golovkin's opponents, whatever you think of them, is much bigger than the average size of Robinson's opponents. Again, that's a fact. As for Rosado, Angulo hit him on the break with his mouth open and he never recovered from that. Still, he was wide awake when the fight was stopped. Why you acting like he was stretchered out?

 

Do you have all of this stuff written down somewhere and just copy and paste it into different threads? Get some new material or at least include all the facts. GGG was in bed with influenza the day before that fight. They thought about canceling the fight, but didn't since he was so new to HBO. His strength and resilience was sapped, as anyone's is with the flu. So stop using that as an example if you're going to leave out a key detail, but of course you leave that detail out intentionally because the truth derails what your prejudice asserts.
