It would be a case of a systematic, relentless orthodox boxer in Golovkin against the fluid improvisational brilliance of RJJ. The question to me is how well does Jones' suspect constitution hold up against the inevitable damage Golovkin will inflict? If he can handle the incoming well enough, Jones wins on points, possibly wide. If he doesn't then I predict that Golovkin takes it, possibly by late KO. It's hard to evaluate two such outliers, because we haven't really seen a meshing of their styles in their prime. RJJ is known for his elusiveness and unpredictibility, whereas GGG is known for cutting the ring off and imposing his style on his opponents.
Lol, you probably want to get a rise out of me, but it’s an Internet forum to talk about hypothetical situations. I’m a fan of the sport and don’t really get emotionally invested into individual boxers. A quick search through your postings and you seem obsessed with hating on RJJ Jr. At best you have a fringe opinion based on the votes and comments. At least you could entertain how you think the fight would play out and why.
GGG’s body punching is what I enjoyed most about his style. When I watched him I would see essences of Chavez and it would bring me back. I know his former trainer Sanchez specifically decided to mold his style off of Chavez.
As great as he is, GG has a small 70" reach, little head movement and is extremely easy to hit. Roy would have had no trouble at all landing his shots. Have a word with yourself. Go and look at the combinations that Brook hit him with. It's got a U/D written all over it, where GG couldn't have coped with Roy's incredible speed and unorthodox style.
At 160, GGG has a slight advantage in that he peaked here. Doesn't matter though, as Jones was still levels better. He'd time that heavy jab, and come over it with blazingly fast cross-counters and probably start working hooks off them. GGG shells up and goes into jab-jab-jab made like he did vs Canelo. Golovkin would probably bite every feint Roy threw up, and GGG is quite open to the body. I always thought Jones was an excellent body puncher. Roy was so much quicker, and would have such a heavy arsenal pointed straight at GGG's face, that there's noway GGG will 'inevitably inflict damage'. If he tries hard enough, he gets KOed. But he doesn't, as shown vs Jacobs & Canelo, and he loses an extremely wide decision. At 168 Jones beats up, schools and stops GGG.
I can only go with what I have and with GGG, it is not a lot. His only quality win is Jacobs who is a B level fighter and GGG struggled in that one. Roy Jones is obviously on a different planet. So, on that basis, Jones by UD. That being said, GGG does have the attributes to cause some issues here: His decent jab, pressure style, power, chin and body shots. So he does have a KO shot here. The more safe bet is Jones on points though. I would even give GGG a better chance in this one than against Toney (granit chin and slick defense).
