Jones Kovalev is a mismatch. Punching power is *meaningless* if you can't find the target and Jones was just WAY too fast for a guy as slow as Kovalev.

Jones by WIDE UD or late stoppage.

    On PEDs Jones' would win

Off them, he'd be beaten quicker than Danni Greens had him out of there. :nod

If Kovalev was a wild out of control clubber like Sam Peter sure I would give Jones a chance. He isn't though. Kovalev is very fluid, has patience, knows when to throw THROUGH the target and when to throw AT the target. He has savage power in both hands. This is an awful match up for Jones who has a Glass Jaw, no Plan B in a fight and not once fought a savage puncher although they were available to him at all the weight classes he fought in. This would be a destruction.

Of course having the temerity to merely suggest GGG or Kovalev would even be competitive with one of Murica's biggest fraud media hype jobs was going to go well.:lol::lol:

You should have at least used James Toney. He would have at least fought bravely and not demanded every concession known to man.

High skill level???? You must have really low standards!!! They stunk up the place. Highly skilled fights are fights like McCallum-Kalambay,Whitaker-McGirt,Canzoneri-Chocolate etc . Jones-Hopkins was a boring fight with two fighters afraid to take any risks. Golovking would have beaten those two in the same night.:deal

How did they stink out the place?

It was a tactical battle. You may not have found it exciting, but there was no excessive holding or fouling etc. It was just that their styles clashed and they were both in their biggest fights to date at that point. But it was still fought at a high skill level.

There is nothing wrong with my statement, that it was indeed fought at a high skill level for two fighters in their first ever title fight.

You didn't find it exciting, good for you.. It doesn't mean Hopkins and Jones were not highly skilled, they were..

Anyway, from what I have read you are a horrible poster and not worth my time. Later.:good

You are too hateful and biased to have a debate on Jones, I have known this for a while, I guess its my fault for continuing to try.

I gave you an example of a type of fighter with power that I think Jones might be able to beat. I don't think that is being too unrealistic. Many people are now looking back at Jones career and seeing the holes in his resume and who he didn't fight and fought instead and are asking questions. His career is actually looking worse as time goes on instead of better like Lennox Lewis resume does for example.

If I were betting my money that I work for I have ZERO faith in Jones being able to beat a composed and calculated savage puncher like Kovalev. Jones is going to take some return leather in a fight like that and I don't think his Chin or him seemingly not having a Plan B when things aren't going his way is going to work out too well for him. That is just my opinion. Jones left way too many "what ifs" in his career than answers. That was his fault for being a business first prizefighter. I know what SRR, Ali, Hagler, etc could do because they showed us by taking on all the best challengers. Jones didn't so it leaves questions. If that is considered me being 'biased' I have no problem with that. Personally if I was a betting man and there was a time machine I wouldn't take Jones over any skilled savage puncher from Middleweight all the way up to Light Heavyweight I think he gets knocked out by several ATG's with those skill sets. :good

Oh word? Dude what are you on? Roy's so much faster with his feet than Kovalev and Kovalev needs to win the footwork battle to get off his power punches. Roy TKO 8 I'd say.
