GGG vs Sugar Ray Leonard 160

The Leonard who beat Hagler does the same to Golovkin but more decisively. GGG has yet to prove he can fight with a guy of that caliber and he still gets hit far to much. Jmo.

 

I'd like to think so. GGG is very unproven compared to Ray.

I feel that a prime SRL is anathema to GGG; fast hands, fast feet, good power, great chin. Ray has great lateral movement and has proven difficult to corner; when he is cornered, he flurries out with hard and fast shots and moves away. I feel GGG would need a very good gameplan to win this.

 

It depends on how old and shop worn Golovkin was at the time.

Leonard was nowhere near prime at 160.

Ordinary Kevin Howard dropped him at 154, ordinary Lalonde dropped him at 165 and an old Hearns dropped him twice at 160.

A prime, hungry Golovkin very likely drops him, too.

People forget that Leonard openly admits he waited for Hagler to get old and even then he barely edged past him; many feel that he actually lost that fight; it was close.

Leonard was nowhere near prime himself by the time he moved to 160.

He also struggled to put the weight on; there were even allegations of steroid use.

Leonard was a great welter and a head to head problem for any welter in history. He's up there with the best at the weight.

At 160 and beyond, however, he wasn't the same fighter and someone like Golovkin, in his prime, has a good chance of stopping the older, bloated and inactive Leonard.

 

I agree for the most part, but I say that its either a close Leonard decision or a UD win for Golovkin

Ok, I can accept that, Golovkin doesn't necessarily stop him.

Maybe Leonard even get past a Golovkin, he had a lot of talent and boxing ability, but its a real tough fight him at that point in his career.

Leonard got rocked by Hagler and knocked down by just about everyone else he fought from there on. Someone with Golovkin's power, in his prime, you can't rule out the knockdown and the stoppage is possible. Golovkin would certainly land something at some point.

I dot think Leonard would be able to take ggg's power that's not disrespecting Leonard he is by miles the better boxer but fight on fight no I don't think he an beat ggg

 

Leonard wouldn't have to take Bumlovkin's power because the Triple Duck doesn't take this fight. Even if he did, Bumlovkin never lands flush on Ray. Plus, Leonard had a damn good chin.

I think a 1950-1952 middleweight Sugar Ray Robinson could outpoint ggg but Leonard beating ggg is a bit far fetched, I think ggg would use his weight to tire Leonard and eventually finish him off
