Hearns is by far the superior boxer.. He has more proven power than GGG as well. I have to go with Hearns, until GGG shows me he can beat an elite fighter.
I think GGG would knock him out in a dogfight. Hearns was vulnerable to a steel chinned slugger with dynamite power that could take his shots and find his suspect chin.
:huh hearns is taggable. dont worry about that. :rofl every boxer gets hit why do you think a boxer can get in the ring with getting hit. :rofl Even floyd mayweather gets tagged. geale didnt hurt GGG, so lets wait until GGG gets hurt before we critique his chin.
No ****. But GGG's defense is ****. He gets koed against the better fighter in Hearns. He's fighting no hopers atm. There's no good fighters to match him at 160. Hearns is the better fighter as it stands. If you don't think that then YDKSAB.
Its not about knowing **** about boxing, im questioning why you think that. GGG hasnt shown anything but an iron chin. Hearns has shown stamina problems, and a tedency to fold. thats all im saying. even great fighters like tommy have there weaknesses.
GGG by knockout, and this is a fairly comfortable pick for me. Not that I think it's easy for Golovkin by any means, but I've seen enough of each that my favorite likely wouldn't change. I'm a big Hearns fan, but this isn't the kind of fighter he excels against. GGG's going to tag him, and I simply don't have enough faith in his punch resistance that he'll last the distance. Tommy just wasn't the same fighter above 154, and the punchers could finally catch up to him there. 154 and 147, he's a nightmare for anyone. At 160, he's still very good, but much more beatable- especially for someone with the offensive arsenal of GGG.
Which 160 fighter did Tommy beat that was on Golovkin's level? Barkley certainly didn't have a Hagler-esque chin. Didn't stop him from beating Hearns. Twice.
if ggg is only good enough to beat the guys he has beat so far, then hearns has little trouble with him. when ggg starts to beat top tier fighters, then we can argue his chances... till then, its all just about how hard you want to hug ggg's nuts.
If anyone has old Rings handy, maybe they could confirm if Doug Dewitt was still ranked going into the Hearns fight. If he wasn't, I think the only top 10 rated MW Hearns actually beat was Shuler. Hagler and Barkley knocked him out. That'd mean Tommy either had a losing record or a .500 record against ranked middleweights. Perfect example of a historically great fighter at lighter weights who just wasn't as unbeatable moving up. FWIW, I still think he's an ATG at 154.
