The body shots clearly hurt him and put him in retreat mode. He fought very carefully not to take shots to the body but it cost him a lot of his offence. Fighting more aggressively was the major adjustment he was meant to make for the rematch , but it was Canelo who ended up being the aggressor.
I agree. He won this fight but some other variables are included in the judges decisions these days. GGG is not their favorite. Clanelo does have one hell of a chin tho'
I don't think he's limited, he has a good jab and showed he could compete even if his vaunted power was taken out of the equation. It wasn't like it was a Bhop/Tito like schooling where he was exposed as being one dimensional. But I think the fight showed his weaknesses. He is too easy to hit, always has been, he isn't fast at all, that usually hasn't been as issue as his ability to cut off the ring ensured he was always in range to land even if his hands were not quick and he couldn't come up with another game plan other than try and out work Canelo. Having said that I still thought he won, Canelo faded in the last 4 rounds and I had Golovkin nick it in the last round.
Very few had Canelo winning. Golovkin needed a knock out to win, hence his frustration, because the golden goose isnt going to get derailed by a 36 year old Kazakh.
limited fighter, what a joke. Was Hamed exposed as a limited fighter when his run ended with an elite?
He's a good fighter but he's limited, I agree. He doesn't try anything different. Doesn't throw body shots, doesn't really adjust. Why a fighter with that power refuses to throw body shots is beyond me.
Exposed...? Canelo fought an old man in there, and the old man still gave a great showing. If that fight was just 5, even 4,3 years ago, Canelo gets absolutely slaughtered in there. Canelo fought him at the perfect time. GGG is much slower than 5+ years back. He fought the elite at the wrong time, and look at his record even then...He's won all his fights against world class opponents bar a robbery and a razor close loss. You could also see the stamina was affecting GGG. Canelo upped the pace this time around, fair play to him. As I said, 5 years ago, GGG has the stamina to keep going and get a few more rounds won. He should be applauded for what he has done. He's been past his best all this time, no-one seems to acknowledge that enough. YOU DON'T WIN AS AN OLD MAN UNLESS YOU HAVE A BRAIN TO MAKE UP FOR THE THINGS YOU'VE LOST. FACT.
