While Canelo did expose him as being limited in ring IQ, and actual boxing ability, Canelo didn't come close to winning that fight. He was outpunched and outlanded in most rounds.
I saw the fight in a predominantly Russian Jewish neighborhood in Queens New York and most had Canelo winning the fight. It was close and far from definitive in eyes of many. I personally had the fight 7/5 Canelo and I was impressed with GGG extra tank during the some of the later rounds but Canelo looked in control despite punch stat data.
I’m not a big fan of using punch stats to leverage or enhance ones argument. It’s quite ambiguous and it will never be completely accurate. The number of seemingly indiscriminate body punches that Canelo was landing were subtle and effective. I doubt all were accounted for.
Have we ever seen Golovkin box on the back-foot, and slip/dodge as many punches as he did. He boxed like his amateur days. I think the problem with Golovkin was the way he was advertised, he's a very smart fighter, but he's advertised as a bull-rushing idiot who just knocks his opponents out, when he boxes and fights safely, it looks uncharacteristic and makes people think he's losing.
And be careful with punch stats, they count probing shots as actual punches, a probing jab = 'fake' jab, a probing straight right = 'fake' right.
Limited slow robotic and old.Even the power which he is known for wasnt there.Canelo has improved and is just younger and too ginger and slick for GGG.Put is simply GGG is the old lion that got taken out by a younger rival. GGG looked like he is not the prime fighter he once was thats the reality of life and in sports.
I know compubox in not 100% reliable but according to compubox GGG missed nearly 80% of his jabs... Not sure why you say he couldn't miss.
Old Golovkin won going forward in the first fight and won boxing off the back foot in the second. He's limited in that he can't beat moving goalposts. Awfully convenient that the judges happened to change what they wanted to see in a way that screwed him again.
disagree as GGG snapped Canelo head clear off a few times and no over hyped fighter or one trick pony fighter would ever stagger Big Red. Just give both guys credit as we just witnessed the FOTY FFS
I had Canelo winning but man it was a great fight!!! Let see part three in December. GGG WON the first Big Red the second fight Let's do it again
Exposed....Seriously you must not be a BOXING FAN Spike was exposed so pick on that aze hole and stop hating on GGG
