The offer was 50/50 split at 168. GGG catchweighted himself out of it by stipulating 164 . No more to it then that.

Context: He's fighting someone schooled by Chris Eubank Jr...

You do know that Canelo planned to fight O'Sullivan in September? Anyway, I do agree - many better options than O'Sullivan.

My view is that GGG is too stubborn about the date. Best is to delay fighting until June/July and try to get BJS.

I can't blame GGG for not wanting to go up to 168 and take on a tall southpaw in Ramirez. I understand it was a combination of tall southpaw and HBO not liking Andrade that scuppered that possibility.

So it was Derevyanchenko or O'Sullivan, and GGG's team think that Derevyanchenko is too dangerous (and he is).

Due to HBO. Anyone who knows boxing knows that O'Sullivan is not a PPV fight, but HBO have issues.

Who ever is losing money on GGG Canelo not happening can always take GBP to court and get their money back. No point trying to recoup it with GGG v anybody, who ever it is isnt bringing the same amount of money as GGG Canelo would.

What's the fuss w/ Derevenchenko? Is his being undefeated and having faced absolutely no one worthy supposed to be better that Spike who's at least fought better comp?

Sure, he lost to two talented fighters in CEjr and BJ. So? Is not facing ANYONE better than losing to those two now?

Andrade hasn't done anything to separate himself from any other contenders either. He's no more proven than Spike either.

    Lets keep some perspective guys....

Why are we even in this situation? It isn’t GGG’s fault that Canelo is addicted to PED’s. The fact he is fighting a garbage fight is all because of your cheating hero Canelo.

    Derevenchenko can punch
He’s got a solid amateur background
Spike hasn’t beat anyone of note
Derevenchenko and Andrade at least are undefeated as is GGG

You are right, Spike hasn't. Neither has Derevenchenko. Neither has Andrade. Spike has faced a couple of good opponents at the very least.

Who cares about undefeated if those records contain no one? I don't understand why fans still think this way.

I dont care about undefeated records
Its one thing to lose to real good fighters
Spike got washed by both BJS and Eubank Jr. He got dog walked by Eubank, the same Eubank that looked foolish vs Groves.
Spike is Spike, he's a great undercard fighter that would make an explosive fight with David Lemiuex. But hes got no business fighting the number 1 pound for pound ranked fighter in the world.

**** cinco de mayo. Just cancel the date and make a fight with Jacobs/Deravyenchenko/Charlo/Murata for summer.

Good points. But if that's the case, what business does a fighter w/ 12 fights and not a single notable or ranked opponent on his ledger, have as a case for the fight?

At this point, I really don't care who he fights, so long as it's not on PPV versus a non-PPV worthy opponents. 3G got screwed out of a fight in december already because GBP wouldn't fight him if he did schedule a fight then. I like him active. So I hope he still fights someone 05/05. He's been on the shelf too long.

And to be honest, these guys are too close to the same level for all this nitpicking.

What are you talking about? U acting like they already have selected a replacement for Canelo, well they haven't. nothing is official. and u should blame GGG for Canelo failing the doping test.
