Golovkin-Jacobs will go to purse bid. K2 will pull out in fear of Haymon winning and Golovkin's exclusive contract with HBO. WBA will strip Golovkin for pulling out of purse bid. Anybody know how many fights Golovkin has left on his HBO contract? He needs to renegotiate to have a clause in the contract that will allow him to fight at least once on another network to avoid losing a title, or in order to make a big money fight or unification.
I think K2 will put up a purse bid, but probably lose it. I think K2 should speak to HBO and say 'let us call their bluff if they win it' because if Golovkin's allowed out, Haymon is shelling out a fortune to see his man get a good hiding or he will have Jacobs vacate.
Yea so if K2 loses the purse bid to Haymon, than Golovkin is forced to pull out of the fight so he doesn't breach his HBO contract. WBA will strip him for not going ahead with the fight. Jacobs won't need to vacate. They will become full champion automatically or have to fight the next highest ranked contender. Then they will try to unify with Saunders so Haymon can have unified WBA/WBO middleweight champion Daniel Jacobs. Is what I'm saying crazy or do you guys think its possible?
Another way round it would be to try and unify with Saunders. Unification takes precedence over mandatories.
I honestly can't see Saunders taking the fight though. I think he's waiting to see the fallout from Canelo-Smith. If Canelo indeed moves up to middleweight after his next fight than Golden Boy is definitely gonna want a belt for him and they're not going to get one off Golovkin.
I do think Saunders has soften on the idea of fighting Triple G. He's sick of trying to get the Eubank fight, and if he can't get Canelo the only option where he's getting paid well is GGG
There are so many options left in this case. 1) HBO expect they can outbid Haymon, who doesn't seem have much funds left. 2) K2 itself takes on the bidding, with or without HBO. 3) HBO gives Golovkin a one off, which clearly is in their best intrest in the case of losing the bid. 4) Golovkin takes the BJS fight if the WBA allows that. 5) Jacobs pulls out himself, knowing he's never going to make the money he wants for it (like he basically said). 6) The negotiations work out, and they just fight. 7) An outside force wins the pursebid. and I probably forgot a couple.
What does that mean? Kovalev was in the same situation except Stevenson wasn't his mandatory. They pulled out from fear of Haymon winning the purse bid and having to then pull out the fight.
Well, K2 is a superior promotional company to Main Events so they might be able to find the funds to outbid Haymon or find a way to Reach an agreement before the purse bids.
