At what weight should this go down? And why Oakland? Golovkin has proven he can easily sell out Madison Square Garden and you'd think Ward would be happy to make a trip up to NYC.

the problem with making this fight going forward is....and sanchez is talking now like he thinks it will happen...is ward isn't gonna want to make 168 anymore.....so if k2 is gonna want it ...itll prob have to be around 172....and I doubt k2 is gonna want that ...especially if ward has beaten kovalev

 

I think this fight is still possible at 170. I don't think Golovkin takes anything higher than that. The location doesn't matter, Golovkin would sell it out, not Andre, including Oakland.

 

Well the weight is now a problem. Ward can't demand Golovkin jump two weight classes to fight him without looking unreasonable. I've slated GGG for doing this to Brook as you've no doubt seen.

When Ward was the man at SMW he made the man at the weight above come all the way down to his weight despite Dawson having not made 168 for 7 years. Will you claim Golovkin is unreasonable to demand the same compromise? It seems fairer than what Adre did consider GGG would be coming up from 160.

 

if they were to try and make fight now I wouldn't back andre asking for 175.....no way

dawson was willing...so I cant really fault andre in that instance......but ggg hasn't done anything at 168 to warrant ward coming fully back down to 168

and if ward beats kovalev hes going to be in a position of power...maybe not full autonomy....but enough power to at least hold his own at the table .....

so I think finding a weight between 170-172 would be the issue....

 

If Golovkin claimed he needed two tune up fights at 168-170 to prepare ala Ward for Kovalev would that be cool too? I'm just trying to establish whether or not you think GGG should be afforded the same opportunites Andre has had to prep.

 

if he wants...sure...

I mean...that might make the fight difficult to make ....but if ward is cool with it....its definitely fine...I mean kovalev was definitely cool with waiting till November...in fact he took the more dangerous interim bout between he and ward.....so its obvious kovalev wanted to prepare....

so if ward is cool with that...im cool with ggg taking a tuneup or two for a 170-172 cw fight.....
