No he isn't. I wouldn't favor him against Charlo, Saunders, GGG Canelo Lemieux or Jacobs and perhaps even Andy Lee.
If the mandatory is forced, they'll take it. I think the problem his team have now is that they're basically dancing to Canelo's tune which means instead of planning 3-4 fights a year it'll be a case of waiting until Canelo tells them they're fighting again, and then maybe planning from that. Murata is much less a threat than Charlo in most people's opinions and Japan will likely bring them a load of money, so that's evidently the reasoning. In terms of wins though, N'Dam>Heiland. When you say 'they' though do you just mean Sanchez because he's usually the only one talking and what he says is usually absolute trash. For what it's worth, given Heiland's injury I'm not opposed to the idea of Charlo fighting someone else ranked. But all the same it isn't his fault Heiland is crocked.
GGG making smart business moves. Japanese will pay good money to have him over. Isn’t Canelo a good businessman as well? Where were you when Canelo was GGGs wbc mandatory?
Murata is a good fight, I don't see the beef here. After Canelo and winner of BJS/DL its the best fight for him imo.
I'm saying it because he's not that good and would be the underdog against every fighter I just named.
So the article is merely saying that GGG would in principle be willing to fight Murata in Japan late 2018 after the Canelo rematch and possibly other mandatory obligations. I don't see any reason for criticizing that statement, wouldn't it be worse if GGG wasn't willing to fight Murata? It just makes sense for GGG's team to consider all options, we all know he is basically in the max-$$$ stage of his career anyway. Why should they write off the Murata option now? Besides, if the Canelo doesn't want the immediate rematch the WBC have Charlo to fill in instead, likewise if the IBF mandate Derevyanchenko he'll be next. And yes Team GGG are more keen on the Murata fight than the Charlo fight, because it's lower risk and higher reward. Unfortunately that's how boxing works and GGG has been at the wrong end of it more than most others. Of course Sanchez saying Charlo had to prove himself at 160 first was just him spouting typical garbage. But: - Murata's win(s) over N'Dam does better anything Charlo did at 160 lb. - Canelo also doesn't always choose the best opponents possible, e.g. Khan, JCC Jr, were all money fights. There were better options in both cases but higher risk/reward ratio. ... but exactly the same goes for GGG/Charlo. GGG had to operate by Canelo's timetable, Charlo will have to operate by GGG/Canelo's timetable. That's how boxing works. P.S. Murata is quite a lot better than some are giving him credit for, I'd give him a decent chance against any other MW.
He would beat Andy Lee and I would favor him over Charlo at this point until charlo beats a decent middle his not terrible he stopped n'dam who might not be great but never gets stopped it's a good win
It's simple because they show interest in that fight. There's no way to chop it up man. After hearing that they want Charlo to earn it by beating Jacobs makes no sense to me being that he's already the ABC mandatory challenger. Why don't they demand Murata to beat Jacobs? Instead they're talking about that fight now rather than later, totally dismissing the Charlo fight entirely.
