actually froch expressed fear of ggg by saying I'd swerve golovkin like the plague and I don't think froch was joking/being sarcastic.froch is not getting chavez jr anytime soon so he will most likely fight ggg first.

I doubt that Froch is afraid of GGG, but The Cobra should not have put GGG on his "Next opponent public poll" if he wants to fight Chavez first! Not trying to make a fight with the winner of the poll does leave him open to criticism.

Someone should have explained to Carl that a Public Poll in a Democratic Country can be difficult to predict!!

Froch is a true fighter..but he is in no way a PR dream!!

I am a Froch fan, and I cannot argue with this statement!

Agreed!! I don't know why the **** he agreed to do that crap (I watched a brief clip that was posted on this site and switched off when I witnessed Carl's rather creepy wink:lol:).

Doing crap like that may raise Carl's profile, but not in a good way!! He simply does not possess a tv friendly personality!!

At least Calzaghe had the sense to do this type of bollocks AFTER he'd retired!!

Not unless Froch-vs-Khan is in the pipeline!

You have spoke a lot of sense in this thread Nonito (which is typical of you) and the above statement is superb!!

It really should be about who they fought (and who they blatantly avoided).

Those trying to sell Khan-vs-Floyd as a competitive fight really should take a moment to consider the facts:

Amir is fast, for sure. But he is a one trick pony who possesses a ******ed ring IQ... he fights in straight lines, has a poor defence, does not pack any sort of one punch fight changing/ending power and cannot take a half decent punch.

So, how does Khan beat Floyd? Does he KO one of the best defensive fighters of the past 20 years? Or maybe Amir beats Floyd on points??:lol:x2.

Floyd, despite being obviously past prime, will time Khan inside of two rounds and would in all probability put an end to the fight in the round and manner of his choosing.

After which we will all criticise Floyd for fighting such an overmatched opponent!

Meh. I suggest you look at similar opponents Floyd has faced. It wasn't all plain sailing as you're suggesting it would be against Khan. I personally think the fight is very competitive for the following 'facts:

Floyd has limited power these days and despite popular opinion Khan can (and regularly does) take a good shot.

Khan looks to have lost none of his legs moving up but Floyd has visibly slowed since his prime.

All together now: Styles make fights! Even if Floyd does figure the strategy out early, catching up with Khan and producing the more eye-catching work will be difficult given the physical disadvantages he COULD face if Khan fights an 'outside-based' tactical fight.

I should add that Khan is certainly the underdog in the match up though.

FWB, Khan has not beat anyone relevant since Maidana, almost four years ago!!

As an experienced boxing fan, you know full well just how many boxers not known for their power have had Khan in all sorts of trouble. As for Amir's chin/legs standing up at WW- Diaz floored him, so I do not know how you can suggest that with any confidence.

I totally agree with you, styles do make fights, which is why ODLH and MM gave Mayweather trouble, but Khan cannot fight like those two and his handspeed advantage would (in my opinion) be comfortably nullified by the sheer gulf in skill/ring generalship (call it what you will) in Mayweather's favour. That is the only advantage Khan has over Floyd! Floyd is an inch shorter and actually has a longer reach than Amir, so I do not know what other physical advantages Amir has.

Khan simply is not on Floyd's level! And he has done nothing and beat no-one to suggest otherwise.

Khan does not possess the IQ or variety to fight an "outside based fight" with Mayweather and win over twelve rounds (there is no way Khan is ko'ing or tko'ing Floyd, so a points win is Amir's only hope) so that scenario is extremely unlikely. It's not as if Khan has a seven inch reach advantage, is it?

The formula to beat Floyd is (in theory) simple: Constant pressure and powerful combinations (make an ageing Mayweather work every minute of every round and break him down systematically), but you need an iron chin for that because Floyd is as accurate as they come and his power is underestimated (he rocked a much larger Canelo back on his heels more than once), and Khan is sadly lacking in the beard department.

We as fans have never shared a ring with Floyd, but there is a reason why the elite fighters that he has faced usually look ordinary, Floyd makes them fight his fight...and Amir Khan coming forward (which is exactly what Mayweather would make him do) is tailor made for Floyd. If Diaz hits hard enough to floor Khan, so does Mayweather.

To none elite professional boxers such as us, it SEEMS like it should be easy to beat Floyd. But the reality is much different. and Khan would find that out.

My guess is that it would be a fun fight for three rounds or so. Then, once Mayweather timed/sussed Amir, it becomes a typical Mayweather stroll.

Where does this myth that Khan's long arms will cause Floyd problems come from?? He has a 71 inch reach and Mayweather has a 72 inch reach ffs!!

If Floyd can hit hard enough to keep iron chinned fighters like Mosley, Cotto and Canelo honest, then he certainly hits hard enough to have Amir doing his Bambi on stilts impression.

Khan brutalizes pure boxers? He holds some decent wins over well past prime fighters, but he certainly has (to my mind) never brutalized and prime, world class fighter.

Yes, Amir is fast, but he is a one trick pony who has a ******ed ring IQ!! He cannot follow a game plan for any period of time and almost always gets drawn into the type of fight that spells danger for him..it is what makes his fights so exciting and what prevents him from being a truly elite p4p fighter.

Khan is probably the easiest PPV fight at WW for Floyd, which is why Mayweather wants it so bad!!

Yeah but fights don't work like that do they you donk, otherwise Toney would have schooled roy jones jr :patsch

Use the eye test, styles make fights, it would be a competitive 50/50 fight due to froch being naturally bigger with a granite chin and GGG having the better technical ability and edge in power IMO.

Do you see how this argument is not based on any real analysis? That must be so since you can essentially insert any boxer for Mr.X and a difficult opponent of his for Mr. Y and Z and construct a 'logical' reason why they can't beat Floyd?

To say that the 'formula' for beating Floyd is constant powerful combinations.....well....it's like saying the formula is punching him...?

Then to deconstruct your own assumption by saying 'coming forward' and trying to implement your 'formula' would play into Floyds hands.....well......you're only saying Floyd can beat anyone trying to implement your 'formula' for victory i.e. You simply say Floyd is invincible because he is.

The whole thing is not real analysis or assessment of Khan's chances. I already said Khan would be the under-dog, as would anyone fighting Floyd? That's what being p4p No. 1 means surely?

I think Amir has as good a chance (35/65?????) of besting Floyd with the right strategy, staying outside and use his strengths to make Floyd struggle to do the eye caching work/land clean shots/get the KO. That's not knocked down or disproven by anything in your argument, though obviously you disagree with me and that's valid and fine.

I see Amir's strength's over Floyd in particular as:
Footspeed, punching power (arguable I suppose), hand-speed, general athleticism.

These factors COULD be enough to win him a potential fight or at least make for a better/more unpredictable spectacle than a lot of Floyds recent opponents IMO.

Could you be more specific as to why you think Floyd beats Amir to a greater degree than any other WW challenger?
