I expect it will have taken more out of Canelo, getting hit harder and more often and he was hurt. Father time is the threat for GGG.
Hit more often by jabs? Lol Hit harder? Like once only? Hahah GGG looked like a beaten man. We'll see how each performs in their next fights. I would not be surprised if GGG also lost part of his heart for the fight game. -Took more punishment than ever -Lost his titles and did not break Bhops record -Is no spring chicken -Canelo made set him up for life with those paydays We'll see next year how each does.
Golovkin clearly finished stronger, that's not a beaten man by any measure. I think Canelo landed bigger punches in the first fight (that big right hand) than anything he landed in the 2nd fight, which was mostly bodywork. I genuinely don't think GGG cares about records or BHop, money or any of that stuff but he wants to beat Canelo officially so I'm not sure he'll lose heart. Time is going on though, he's 37 in April.
Considering I didnt expect the same Golovkin to show up the second fight, I dont expect the same Golovkin to show up for the third fight. Personally, I am of the belief that G is at the stage of his career where he will show slight decline every outting from here on out. Do I think Canelo played a part in that? I think slightly, yes. He landed some good brain jarring shots. I think it was going to happen regardless though. G just doesnt seem like a fighter that is aging well, despite having a style that shouldnt be hurt too much by age. So again, no I dont think G will be the same, in the third fight (which is why I will be picking Canelo again), I blame it on age as much as I blame it on Canelo, but that yes I think Canelo played a part in it (as would any top fighter that G would have fought in Canelos place, imo)
G looked fantastic against Vanes. G always looks fantastic against low level fighters. Against Jacobs and Canelo he didn't look so spectacular But yes, G is getting up there in age and will likely stay clear of the elite unless its for a Canelo pay day.
I thought he looked a bit poor in that first round. The combination he landed to end Vanes was lovely and accurate but it's what you'd expect. Fantastic isn't a superlative I'd use for that performance myself. I'd say what concerns me most about GGG is how hard he was blowing in the second fight. That is owing to Canelo's excellent body work (which is why he chose to box on the move a bit instead of trading inside, despite what that idiot Sanchez wanted him to do) too but he looked puffed from about the half way stage. His hand speed has slowed a bit but he wasn't fast handed anyway.
Canelo landed some incredible body punches. Much better punches than in their first fight. Also, G didn't look as relaxed in the rematch aa he looked in the first fight, he kind of lookes awkward in there, fighting in a way his body is not used too. Likely all contributing factors on why he was huffing and puffing so soon.
Aye, that's true. His body is fading as you'd expect it to after boxing from such a young age and that'll be more noticeable against the elites. Shame really, I've loved watching him fight over the years but 160 is a damn fine division now and - so long as they fight each other - that's good enough for me.
I dont think he looked fantastic against Vanes. I thought he looked good. Fantastic? A bit over the top, imo. But yes, there is quite a large disparity between how he looks against lower level fighters, than he has against the best hes faced, which I think is fairly typical for punchers. I maintain, I see deterioration, and I expect it to compound over the next few fights, regardless of who he fights (obviously, how much so will depend on opponent, but I still expect him to not look like vintage Golovkin)
