    Anyway, back on topic.

Floyd successfully conquered the "Hiphop" demographic that Bob Arum openly admits he had no idea how to connect with them. Why aren't K2 trying to pursue this same tactic?

I'm not American, but it seems Mexican-Americans don't necessarily back "their own" and follow exciting fighters. Is this not true with African-Americans? Is that why nobody outside of the African-American community tries to connect with them and build a fanbase within?

It's curious, here in the UK literally nothing like that exists. British tend to follow anybody who was born here regardless of their race. Though are quite strongly nationalistic and tend to always root for the British guy. Paulie seems to be an outlier to this rule of late, though.

When the hell did Mayweather try to appeal to African Americans? He fights on Mexican holidays, wore Mexican flags and colors, and he fights Mexican fighters.

He knows to appeal to Mexicans because Mexicans absolutely hate him. They just buy his PPV to see if he'll lose.

Why doesn't he fight on MLK Day then if he appeals to African Americans?

It was one of the main reasons he left Bob Arum. Bob couldn't appeal to the African Americans and Floyd was indignant feeling there was a massive market not contributing to his paycheck. He has since been successful with his "TMT" and "TBE" branding. I thought this was widely known with both Floyd and Arum openly talking about it.

Mexican's and Chicanos are the biggest PPV consumers for boxing. Chicanos also have the best fight parties and post fight parties in Vegas.

Without this market boxing suffers, fighters know who they need to please, or in others' who to antagonize.

    :good

    Yup.

Theyre definitely the most hard core fans.

Except of course of the 175+ weight classes.

None of my mexican freinds know who the top 5 LHWs, CWs, or HWs are.

But they all know GGG, Floyd Pac, Cotto and Canelo.:thumbsup

Funny, that's the exact way I used to follow boxing. I'm slowly starting to get a feel for heavyweight, LHW, and cruiserweight. My knowledge of the light flyweights is suffering for this, though. Seriously, only so many weight classes one can follow.

Really? So he leaves Arum only to go into overdrive trying to please the Mexican market? He still fights on 2 Mexican holidays and fought Canelo tooth-and-nail for Cinco de Mayo. Hell, he fought Pacquiao just so Canelo couldn't take that date away from him.

Tell me when he launches a PPV on MLK Day then you'd have an argument.

growing up, HW boxing was the biggest thing in sports.

So, regardless of who's dominating, Im gonna know the top 20.

To me, the 118 or less is non existant, and 130-135 has just too much turnover to follow.
Everybody passing titles, moving up, moving down, etc etc etc :patsch

GGG needs a breakout fight where the mainstream starts to understand how good he is.

He'll have to beat Ward or the winner of Cotto-Canelo to stand a chance of crossing over to the mainstream even half as much as Pac and Floyd did.

He's actually building his brand without them. It'll fade if he doesn't fight a big name but if he can score a big name while his popularity is peaked, it'll do wonders for his career.
