Has my teddy bear moppy been around lately? Or is he still MIA? I think it's time to call it in, and get a search party organized. It can't be that hard to find him on a chopper.

Still MIA, as far as the chopper goes, looking for a fat bearded white guy in Georgia is like looking for a needle in a haystack.:yep

Agree that Kovalev has more, but Golovkin is 'limited' by his technique if you get what I mean. To get serious 1 punch ko power you have to get a bit wild, and usually GGG limits his power to the maximum that can be achieved without losing balance and stance. imho

GGG's punch has more of a snapping power that would rather not move an object but leave a mark on it - like a mark on the wall from a bullet or a whip. Look at his opponents' faces. He has higher chances of breaking your ribs while your body remains stationary and visually unaffected.

No wonder his opponents say they expected more power from him - they don't get one punch KO'd but they are never the same after fighting him. Look at the track record of his victims, they depreciate and age considerably after fighting him. This is actually the reason why high profile fighters are avoiding him, they know what would a long-term, career changing impact be after fighting him. Some like Rubio and Geale knew that and quit. Others like Rosado, Stevens, Ouma, Murray and Lemieux took a beating. I just hope that Murray and Lemieux will bounce back and get back on track.

power in boxing is more multi facet than just hitting someone hard. if someone lands a powerful shot then there is a host of things at play

you have to find the openings, have the correct timing, good technique, speed and be in the right position to throw. have good balance. so on

I can hit a bag hard or the focus pads pretty hard. my pad-man was always complaining his shoulder is screwed after taking me on pads. but I'm **** as I cant do any of the above. whereas GGG is a master at all of the above. so can land his big shots. so he does have good power because its usable.

Golovkin is a very heavy handed fighter, I don't think his power is overrated. He's not a lightning strike puncher ala Jackson, Mccllelan, Benn, Roy, but he is most definitely a big hitter.

Comparing a MW to a HW in terms of one punch KO power is as idiotic as comparing a flyweight to a MW. There was a reason they banned you -- you are an imbecile.

It's his ability to place punches that makes the difference

Such a dumb thread. His body punching is ferocious. He has essentially made 3 of his last 4 opponents call "no mas". He is not a power puncher like Tyson was but to pretend he isn't a devastating body puncher is ridiculous.

Why are so many fools on this site circle jerking about who hits hardest and who is faster? Who cares? Gary Russell is fast as lightning but it doesn't mean anything. As a boxer, he is mediocre so who cares? Is GGG the hardest puncher in history? Likely not, but clearly he hits hard and is accurate. Just enjoy it ffs.

I think a pro boxer defined it well (can't remember who it was)

"He isn't a big puncher but extremely heavy handed"

Golovkin is very much like Alexis Arguello. Everything they do is absolute precision and comes in with bad intentions.
