Yeah because cutting the ring of is rocket science and one of the most exciting things to see a fighter do.
Everyone can look amazing when regularly pitched in against carefully matched opponents. It's a shame very few have the brains to see through that.
It may not be rocket science to you to cut off the floors as you flawlessly serve one table after another in Popeye's, but it's definitely not easy to master in a Boxing ring.
Ex: Pacquiao is one of the greatest fighters of this generation and can't cut the ring off for the life of him. Canelo can't cut the ring either. Also, no one has been able to consistently cut the ring on Mayweather so maybe it's harder than it looks.
Pacquiao can cut off the ring, but it's rather difficult against someone like Mayweather. Mayweather is constantly moving in different angles and regularly deceives opponents that he's going one place only to fire away or simply move to another position. Cutting off the ring isn't just moving like a robot and adjusting based on where your opponent is at, it also requires sharp eyes and quick thinking to react according to your opponent. If your opponent is an A class master mover, then he's making you look bad even if you're great at it. This is also very tiring and regularly consumes energy/stamina. Alvarez didn't look too bad cutting off the ring against Lara when compared to how he looked against Mayweather.
Pacquiao doesn't cut off the ring. His style is in-and-out. He adjusts to the positioning of his opponent. GGG establishes his will on his opponent and positions the opponent where he wants them to.
Pacquiao couldn't cut the ring off before the Mayweather fight. I knew this. I thought majority of people knew this. He struggled doing it against Algieri. He didn't learn to because he hasn't had to in order to succeed. He's succeeded fine w/o being able to do it, but it's something you gotta know how to do- especially against boxers who use a lot of movement.
I like how he corrects his stance during fights..it's like he is always striving for perfection even in the middle of a fight..
So because Golovkin has cut off the ring against fighters that literally have no footwork to speak of, his ring cutting ability is amazing? Interesting story. Golovkin has not shown an elite ability to cut off the ring. Once he does it to an elite mover (there are none in this division), let's revisit this topic.
Well it might be rocket science to someone who never boxed like yourself. It's just not something that one drool's over when watching a fight.
