Not to mention, comparing the resume of a bonafied cash cow and American star in Floyd to a foreign fighter. The big cash cows have the luxury of picking and choosing whomever they want. That's how they get the fights. Very few boxers, even those w/ success, get that ability to pick virtually anyone they want to fight.
There was a small window of opportunity where he could have fought Martinez. That would have been a great fight and a massive win if he pulled it off. He should have a win over Canelo but in terms of official wins, I think Jacobs or Murray were his best wins.
GGG is more impressive when considered H2H as opposed to a record-centric ranking. As good as he was, I agree with most on here that his record is pretty much crap in comparison to his performances. When you have to rewrite the record book in order to bolster your guy's wins, it looks pretty desperate. I think, as many here do, that GGG won the first Canelo fight, but it wasn't an extremely dominant performance. Canelo is just an OK fighter in my view anyway so it's not that great of a "win", even though GGG lost. Apart from Canelo, who is head & shoulders above anyone else on his resume, things look pretty pathetic. It is certainly NOT the record of an ATG.
1. Canelo (I DON'T CARE GOLOVKIN WON ATLEAST ONE OF THE 3 FIGHTS) 2. Kell Brook (underrated win, Brook was an elite welterweight and Golovkin's size advantage wasn't as significant as most think. Brook weighed in at 168 in the ring against GGG, and Golovkin has said that he weighs 170-175 in the ring. Impressive win) 3. Daniel Jacobs (good win against an elite middleweight) 4. Sergiy Derevyanchenko (good win against high ranked middleweight, also won it past his prime) 5. David Lemieux (good win against high ranked middleweight) Golovkin's resume isn't great, but it isn't horrible either.
Canelo fans just love saying GGG didn't beat Canelo. Maybe because GGG has such an impressive title defense/ KO ratio. 20 title defenses (18) by KO. Canelo will never accomplish that.
In no particular order: Jacobs Derev Murata Murray Lemiuex Honestly Canelo would be on the list, but he lost officially so..............
I had Canelo vs Golovkin 1 7-5 to Golovkin, but I wouldn't say a draw is 100 percent out of the question. A gift for Canelo ? Yeah but I wouldn't say it's the worst robbery I've ever seen. Compared to Lewis vs Holyfield 1 where Holyfield was dominated, Canelo vs Golovkin 1 on the other hand was a very competitive fight. And like I said the other two fights were scored correctly/fairly, and Golovkin also benefitted from a few close decisions himself so it evens itself out. You can't just keep bringing up the Canelo draw to heighten Golovkin's resume, and then ignore the fact that Golovkin was fortunate to get the decision against Derveyanchenko, and the Jacobs fight was a fairly close one aswell.
