ok so its now old news and with the rematch not looking likely next it might be a while before we can see how both make adjustments so Canelo will most likely work on his fitness and not gassing out after three rounds, maybe if he can pressure for half round he could genuinely win imo.
Gennady has to go to the body regular away and imo that’s all he has to do as gas tank and pressure going off there first fight was enough to win the fight by four rounds or just by one round if you’re desperately trying to find as many rounds you can for Canelo and we don’t do this with anyone else so go figure.

Anyway why did a enjoy the fight immensely esp watching Canelo who surprised me from the off but was left rather disappointed with GGGs performance as was Kellerman actually?
To my eyes Golovkin looked nervous for the first few rounds and then got into it but he also looked rushed and I’m wondering if Abel’s advice of fighting every second of each round and stealing the last 30 seconds if that could be the reason for him looking rushed and not going to the body more like he’d forgot that he’d won fights with body shots, most strange.
I reckon the rematch is gonna better and GGG will surely go to the body more.

I’ve even heard folk think it was fixed on account of him not going to the body, personally I just think he was rushing too much instead setting his punches up and how do we do that ladies and gentlemen..........by going to the body of course.

I think Golovkin didn't want to get countered reaching to the body

He is going to set up every punch by going to the body first? Doesn't work like that.

A good view of the fight.

GGG believes politics are involved with even who is in charge of highlights as he believes they only highlight Canelo. He doesn’t understand there wasn’t much he left for people to work with in that regard. His performance was very underwhelming.

His handspeed and accuracy was atrocious. He literally threw himself off balance on a couple of occasions when he attempted to reprisal Canelo shots. The fight really showcased that Canelo is by far the more versatile fighter. G was just the busier man but not really effective at all even when Canelo was against the ropes.

I don’t understand why people even try to fool themselves about G getting robbed. He even cried about Canelo not standing still in the post fight interview. There’s nothing G will be able to do at 36 years of age against Canelo.

Golovkin clearly won that fight, he landed more punches, El Pollo ran like hell! Even El Pollo's fans were booing him! You can't hide that! Even Harold Lederman had it 8 rounds to 4 Golovkin, Paulie had it 9 rounds to 3 Golovkin, watch the interviews, watch the fan reaction to the robbery. Oscar owned the judges, Byrd 10 rounds to 2?! What a crock of crap! The vast majority of fans had Golovkin winning, even the Mexican fans..................

He did look rushed in the early rounds. He was clearly trying hard to impose himself early but ended being a bit befuddled by Canelo's head and upper body movement as well as his movement around the ring. Golovkin is usually such an accurate puncher but when faced against a top level defensive fighter he was made to miss time and again and that only added to the feeling Golvokin was rushing his work.

As for going to the body. He didn't throw a single body punch in the first 4 rounds, he was clearly head hunting. But in the middle rounds he did start to try and go for the body. But the problem is we are used to seeing Golovkin rake guys to the body when he has them on the ropes and Canelo was the one controlling where the fight was being fought, he was often taking the centre of the ring and was content to stand in front of Golovkin for periods because of his defensive skills.

When Golovkin did throw to the body they were blocked. Canelo was able to read the right hand to the body and use his elbow/forearm to block it every time. And even when Golovkin had him on the ropes, Canelo doesn't cover up and invite the body attack like many lesser fighters he usually keeps his arms down by his torso to block body shots and used his upper body movement to slip the head shots to his exposed head.

Fact is Golovkin will find it hard to work Canelo's body because of his defence. If he over commits to the body in a desperate attempt to break Canelo down he'll just expose himself to Canelo's counters. Whatever GGG does in a possible rematch he is in for another tough fight.

While I had Golovkin ahead in the september fight I still think he had the wrong strategy.
In a rematch he should stay outside use the jab more and try to countering Canelo with the hook or the jab.
The fight was great and I like the coming forward mexican style that Golovkin uses normally but vs Canelo it was the wrong strategy.

I'm not sure Golovkin could pull off that kind of strategy. He had real problems landing on Canelo consistently. He was able to cut off the ring well like he usually does but even when he had Canelo right in front of him, Canelo's reflexes and defensive savvy made it very hard for GGG.

By standing off and allowing Canelo to fight at a more comfortable pace, he would likely get out pointed. Fact is, it was his methodical and consistent pressure that won him the fight, if he abandons that he'll get schooled.

I think he was caught on what to do a bit. He knew he needed to stop Canelo to win so forced it but didn't want to get countered going to the body. Speed advantage was in Canelo's favour as GGG imo has slowed up over the last few years and he knew it. I think your right, stay behind the jab and work from there !

I cant see GGG getting schooled boxing behind his jab v's anyone. On neutral ground I think its the tactic to use, in vegas he has to pressure and look dominant to get a fair shake
