Actually, this fight isn't all that bad.

Parades up 2-0.. but 2nd was close... Parades on workrate... crowd favors Laham for sure though..

    Round 2

Paredes keeps the southpaw jab trained on Laham's nose while circling and then puts in left uppercuts downstairs while leaning in. Laham slices down at him with both hands, slow and inaccurate but persistent. They push together in a sloppy clinch, both scraping at the body.

    10-9 Paredes

    20-18 Paredes

The Mexican will get robbed if it stays like this.

Tyler Asseltine got screwed against Laham, and he's a Canadian!

    Round 3

Paredes is jabbing up over Laham's head, combing his poorly styled hair. Body shots by Paredes as he turns Laham. Hard clubbing right by Laham, catching Paredes shrinking back from a lean-in. Laham keeps working the heavy right hand as Paredes retreats. Jabs and body shots by Paredes as he circles a bit wider out. Double jab into the guard by Paredes, pushing with his forearm to set up a whipping left around the side. Laham walks forward, absorbing everything, mostly on his arms.

    10-9 Laham but close

    29-28 Paredes

I wasn't honestly super excited for Ghislain Maduma vs. Saul Carreon or James DeGale vs. Sebastien Demers, but after this undercard they're going to seem like FOTY candidates. :yep

These are not hard acts to follow.

    Round 4

Paredes is fluttering the right jab into Laham's face, braving the inside to wing in body shots while bowing low under Laham's sweeping hooks and slow hammer-fists. Paredes bodies up against Laham and shoulders him into range for a light flurry downstairs, then ducks deep as Laham pounds on his back.

    10-9 Paredes

    39-37 Paredes

    Ah, right.

So he must provide some good work in the gym for Beristain to fly him in to spar with his stable. :think

You wouldn't necessarily know it from this - although he is looking smoother in there it's no great feat to be smoother than Laham.

    Round 5

Paredes is tossing up left hands and leaning in against Laham for breathers. Laham keeps slamming down with the right hand, blocked or caroming down Paredes' back. Laham switches to body shots. Paredes rattles off light uppercut flurries off his jab while backing away. Paredes is put down on a knee from a body shot, but it's ruled a slip. Very strange. Laham moves in, another left rip into the stomach...coup de grace! Paredes stays down.

    TKO5!!

If you looked at his resume without ever having watched him you might think Baha Laham is a decent prospect. :!:

In reality, Asseltine outboxed him - and so did Paredes until his glass body gave out.
