Giacobbe Fragomeni vs. Silvio Branco RBR

Round 3

Major pressure by Fragomeni. Hooks doubled to the head by Branco on the back foot. High searching jab by Fragomeni, tripled up and catching Branco on the cheek a couple of times. Branco shoves out with his forearms, but Fragomeni is no man to be pushed around lightly. He hammers the body. Branco backs up and jabs. Branco tries to pivot into a big right uppercut but can't slow Fragomeni with it.

29-28 Fragomeni

 

Round 4

Fragomeni ducks under the jabs of Branco and hooks him in the body. Big flurry by Branco, tapping the bottom of his fists off the back of Fragomeni's head. Big body shots by Fragomeni. Jab to the face by Branco backing up. BIG BODY SHOTS, Fragomeni really trying to drill a hole through the middle of the bigger man. Branco gets his arms around Fragomeni and spins him to get off the ropes.

Round 5

Fragomeni lets some jabs careen off the tip of his chin while coming forward and ladeling out his own generously. BIG overhand right crushes Branco's nose. It's cartilaginous mucus soup in there now. Another big overhand right by Fragomeni! Branco is clearly more bothered by Fragomeni's power than vice versa. Branco is trying to flurry while getting shoved back into the ropes and ripped raw to the body (in between gob-smacking overhand rights that brush the ceiling). Fragomeni is throwing constant power combos marching in. Branco flurries at the sides of his head, and tries to push out that strong left jab of his - but can't stem the tide.

49-46 Fragomeni

 

Round 6

Intense signature pressure by Fragomeni. Branco is pushed into the ropes by dozens of jabs and rights hurled upward with cruel designs. Branco is feebly popping jab after jab in Fragomeni's face and barely even causing his neck muscles to budge. Fragomeni starts defending anyway, picking off some hooks and rights on his gloves with his arms crossed at the wrists. BIG overhand right by Fragomeni and Branco holds again. Fragomeni ducks under a few weak straight shots and slams at the body and head. BIG overhands by Fragomeni! Branco is backed up to the ropes but bravely battles his way off with a long flurry!!

Bravo to both.

Branco for his heart and CHEEN, and Fragomeni for his insane will and the literally bell-to-bell pressure. Not many guys fight hard all 180 seconds of a round, but Giacobbe has done so for six now.

 

Round 7

Fragomeni again gets Branco smarting from an overhand right, shrinking back into a corner and trying to envelop the oncoming Fragomeni in his arms. Hard jabs up top by Fragomeni. Straight jabs and short rights by Branco, nothing on them to get a reaction out of Fragomeni. Big combo by Fragomeni, piling on straight shots up top and battering through Branco's guard. Jab, jab, right by Branco backing up and placing his shots gingerly with a focus on accuracy. Fragomeni is switching to southpaw momentarily, throwing a big right hook. Back to orthodox. Branco is peppered into a corner. BIG BODY COMBO BY FRAG!! Branco has to hold on.

69-64 Fragomeni

 

Round 8

Fragomeni goes hunting with his high right jabs and some exploratory shuttle-launching rights. Branco is able to find a good range to counter, using his feet to stay a few paces away and catching Fragomeni on the way in with sharp straight rights. Branco is boxing well now, back to his form from all the way back in the 1st round. Branco dances to his right and leans back out of the way of a Fragomeni flurry. Short jabs and rights popped to the face by the long armed Branco as he dances away from the ropes and keeps Fragomeni lunging after him. Combo to the head by Branco. Overhand right and some body shots by Fragomeni! Too little too late.

Round 9

It's the busy, straight accurate Branco jab on the back foot vs. the thudding, powerful, grazing overhand right of Fragomeni. The jab holds it steady for the opening minute, but then the tide turns in favor of the overhand as Branco runs out of room. Fragomeni is really laying it on him. Big shots by Fragomeni pinning Branco to the ropes. Clinch. Branco pushes out his left jab into Fragomeni's gloves, using it to propel himself backward. Sneaky uppercut to the body by Branco from outside. Hard jab by Fragomeni, countered by a 1-2 from Branco before holding. Five shot flurry by Branco, but Fragomeni backs him up with some thumps to the body. Jab to the eye by Fragomeni, and Branco paws at it immediately. That stung. Legal blow, though.
