this would be a hell of a fight. the master boxer with a punch, giardello, vs one of the heaviest powerful right hand ever in hearns, though not very good whiskers he could whop. im still taking joey g to school the hit man from detroit.and it goes the distance or possibly to a turn around loss for joey as hearns might get the win due to cuts as joey had thin skin and a lot of scar tissue around his eyes.

Could be a tough match-up for Giardello as he liked to counter, and countering the tall, lanky Hearns's jab wasn't very easy unless he got overly aggressive. Giardello also had a tendency to cut, and Hearns threw sharp, cutting punches.

Giardello didn't exactly come on strong late either, so Hearns might see the final bell of this one, and possibly have his hand raised at the end of it.

I like Hearns by decision. Height, reach, speed, and mainly a very good left jab. Giardello would find himself outboxed from the outside and might be forced into a roll he might not be comfortable with in coming foward. Giardello matches-up well with alot of middles, even great ones, but not in this one.
