I will pick Hopkins to come up with a plan to win the fight on points. It's hard for a guy to outbox Hopkins on ringcraft and countering etc. If you're not a purist you likely won't like this one! I don't mind people picking Giardello, who was a true genuine great MW. Some might say that the young more aggressive Hopkins might lose this one, but that Hopkins was still a great ring general who never left his chin out.
oh good one!...this one would be a total classic and i'm ashamed i never thought about it ! .. hopkins takes him into the late rounds and then puts him out .. it might go the distance but if hopkins felt he had to close the show i believe he would
I agree Hop to go for UD. Giardello could hit, but he could be hit too!! I feel Hop better boxer & all around fighter!!This would be chess match Hop checkmate!!:happy
ray is right .. both would have there moves and moments but hopkins comes down with the ax and executes
That is an absurd prediction from someone who obviously doesn't know dick about Giardello. And when did Hopkins ever stop any good MW, or even face any great MW outside of Jones, who embarassed him?
THIS IS A CLOSE ONE THAT COULD GO EITHER WAY...LOOKS LIKE A 3 FIGHT DEAL...I like B-Hop better at 175 but @160 he never looked that strong, Joey is my pick if I have to...a close one
Giardello was a wizard, in terms of boxing skill, and there would be nothing that Hopkins could show him or trick him with. The only advantage BH would have would be size, in terms of height and reach, but Giardello wouldn't be anything like any of Hopkins's previous opponents, and would either negate Hopkin's physical advantages and give him all he could handle, or actually beat him on points, like the three best opponents he's faced, all who got decisions over him.
Very interesting fight. Hopkins is like a fish out of water if he can't implement his "punch and smother" tactics, and Giardello's handspeed and counterpunching ability might foil him from doing just that. On the flipside, Giardello tends to cut and get caught up in brawls, and sometimes his stamina/conditioning was suspect.
i know a bit about him man lol dont come at me like that i dont know nearly enougha bout the game that you know but damn dont come at me .. i have a pretty respectable opinion .. i dont say **** like "wlad would kill ali" .. lol
I don't neccessarily think Hopkins would lose, there's just no possibility of a stoppage in this one unless Giardello comes in way out of shape and unmotivated. Hopkins has never even beaten a fighter on the level of Giardello, much less stopped one. The only fighters he has fought on that level have beaten him. Again, not saying definitively that Giardello would do so, but it would've been a highly competitive, technical chessmatch. A stoppage is pretty much out of the question either way.
Unlikely anyone gets stopped here..This one would be a snoozer and tedious for most because you are matching two guys with so much skill and ring smarts. I cant really split em...I would probably reluctantly go with Giardello if pushed, just is someone I think Hopkins would be unable to implement his gameplan on.
