It was a very dirty fight, no question about that, but the reason Nova lost wasn't because of that. Gene Tunney's prediction for that fight was pretty much spot on: "My reason for not liking Lou's chances against Galento," explained Gene today, "is that Lou is too headstrong, being what is known as a 'get even' fighter when he is stung. It seems nothing can cure him of this trait, and Galento is too dangerous a puncher for a boxer who will discard the advantage that is his." Ray Arcel was clueless in Nova's corner.

So many guys got knocked out with that arm punch. I'm sure you would do better than Joe Louis did. John Galt the greatest of all time everybody.
Tons of lesser heavyweights that Louis would have avoided that punch or even nailed Galento while he was trying to throw it. Louis should be deeply embarrassed about getting caught clean with it.
I don't think you know what an arm punch is. And arm punch is a punch that uses the weight and force of the arm to do damage. You can twist your hips and still throw an arm punch. An arm punch is when you don't Shift your core weight and use the shoulder snap to throw punches. Foreman can stand straight up and throws bombs. Those are not arm punches just because he doesn't turn his whole body. Galento clearly has a devastating shoulder snap, as you can see by the trajectory, and whip of the punch. A shoulder snap punch is not an arm punch.
Yes. I'm neither a heavyweight nor a professional fighter though and he would have mauled me to death anyway.
So you're saying that the decent amateurs of today are better than the top contenders/champs of Galento's era?
How can you call this an arm punch? https://streamable.com/mhn1 Do you not see the tremendous weight behind it? That's a mack truck of a punch. His entire body is behind it with the leap. And the angle, and whip of the punch shows its clearly a shoulder snap punch. If you can throw that hook with Galentos power, I guarantee you great success in the amateurs.
His power comes from his feet leaving the ground. You can clearly tell, because his entire body moves in one motion, leaving no weight dragging behind anything except that arm, that has everything behind it. Have you seen Galento hit the bag? That man doesn't throw arm punches. Here is Tysons feet, doing the same thing. See how his back foot end up in front? He also has to pull his arm back to throw that tremendous punch. https://streamable.com/3foj You're totally off base here. To think that Tony Galento throws arm punches, especially the one in this clip, is plainly inaccurate.
The only difference is that Tyson twists his hips. That's it. Of course his right foot left the ground. https://streamable.com/hw9w Unless his foot magically moves around the ring with his leg fully extended?
