    Probably around 1917 since the Americans didn't join the war effort until then?

    Also low and behold the American beat the European, that tradition would be carried out until we slipped up with Lennox Lewis (don't take this seriously)

    Memphis Pal Moore beat Jimmy Wilde in an allied competition in 1918, so that year is possible

    The ref used to sit outside the ring in UK fights, as long as the fighters behaved.
