But but...he didnt pull the jab back to guard his face like any youtube instructer will teach you. Hes lucky that wasnt a modern fighter in there.
The pure mechanics version: https://streamable.com/4gvwu Look how he slides away off the hook. Even after a finishing combo, he still has the balance and form to move out of range with sharp crisp movement.
His bounce back to take himself out of range of the right cross into a perfectly balanced stance for the uppercut counter was a thing of beauty. He didn't need to reset, shuffle or anything. It's like he set him up for that.
That was a nice clip, Louis took the half step back, got a good push from his right foot and landed the uppercut which turned his body to the left for the left hook. Taking the half step back works against opponents who are advancing recklessly, and it works when you hurt your opponent. If the opponent is hurt by a punch most will involuntarily reach out to grab, if you've taken the half step back and throw the uppercut or a straight right his momentum will carry him into the punch. Louis did a great job and locating that piece of video was a good find.
Agreed. Simple technique executed to perfection. Seemed to bait the hurt, desperate Mann into throwing a truly horrible punch and then exploited it beautifully.
