Joe Louis once swung so wildly he missed by miles and clumsily fell onto his hands and knees.. Did Joe Louis have bad balance?

When a large group of bystanders watch an event and not all can see it's conclusion there will be a variation of opinion as what occurred. That inside short uppercut not many saw or heard land. It obviously was a hard blow judging by its sound and its immediate effect on Walcott. Any thought that Joe could have gotten up in time is complete speculation.

 

Marciano lack of balance has been overplayed over time as was the idea he was unskilled. Rocky did lots of cute things in the ring. Defense much better than given credit for.

 

Maybe the bar was set to a higher standard back then and and Rocky's style just stood out from the pack. I only go by my own eyes and my eyes tell me he had great balance and foot work. Maybe it had something to do with the slick crafty pure boxers he was up against as well.

What do you think would be said about guys today like Whyte and Chisora who missed single shots so wide they were going head first out through the ropes.
And David Haye who was off balance everytime he threw an over hand swing. He'd have to go back and start all over again.

Rocky could throw a 10 punch combination and still be locked onto his target. That requires great skill.

 

Somebody once told Merchant that Foreman was sow.. He said - so? , a tornado was slow too. What can you do about it. !

 

I suppose some need a hero, and Rocky is a good choice for those that do ,a fine man,modest and unassuming ,and an excellent champion who ducked no body. One wonders what he would make of the mythologizing of him on this forum?

To my knowledge no one has presumed to call either Whyte or Chisora anything other than domestic quality fighters, likewise any one call Haye a great fighter? Whereas Marciano is routinely described on this forum as an ATG and top 5 alltime!
Your worship of Marciano is as over the top as your denigration of the Klit Brothers.
Please show me where I can see Marciano throw a ten punch combination.

 

Marciano would make about one leg of the old George I'd expect Rocky to be a bit quicker than that version!

What you can do about a tornado is move away from it.

 

And the majority opinion of ringsiders. Any thought that many did not see the ko blow is complete speculation.

He threw abnormal amounts of shots into Charles , round in round out. Towards the end of the LaStarza fight it was one after the other.

I hear WK being called an ATG and a master of distance all the time because he beat a bog standard guy like David Haye who genuinely had terrible balance and foot work .
One fandom is far more ridiculous than the other .

 

Lastarza ended up a static target on the ropes yet only lost when the referee rescued him.Rocky's accuracy in that fight was pretty poor.

Therefore; No ten punch combinations.In fact I can't think of a fighter who ever managed to throw one .SRR & Patterson managed 4/5 punch ones.
