Louis was still in the fight landing hard punches right up until Rocky landed an uppercut that completely stopped him. Walcott went from winning a fight to instant KO. One punch KO in the rematch. Rex Layne, lights out one punch. Harry Mathews, put out by hook combo. Yeah, he does gradually beat them down, but he also finishes with brutal lights out punches. You make it sound like he doesn't hit hard because his opponents don't aways go down right away (again, insane criticism), even though footage shows his capacity for brutal stunning and concussive punches.
Peralta was 35, worn and torn. He also went the distance with Levi Forte, who got knocked out by Prentice Snipes, Clip Johnson, Rudolfo Diaz, Jack Bodell, Al Jones, and many more. Do you not see how ridiculous it is to diminish Foremans power based on this kind of simplistic non holistic thinking? Again, simple straw grabbing arguments.
I don't say he didn't hit hard ,I say he did not exhibit one shot ko power as a rule, he softened Layne up with a steady bombardment to his flabby mid- section before reducing him to a walk.By Moore's own admission he ran him out of gas and his legs went on him. Mathews was a light heavy, a hyped up fighter. Walcott was gradually worn down and reduced to stealing momentary rests against the ropes. You've no answer as to why Moore and Cockell had to be systematically tenderized to a pulp before they were stopped ,two ex lightheavies ,one 40 years old, the other a flabby tubby little guy who had been kod by middleweight Turpin. Surely a terrific one punch kayo artist would have dealt with them a lot more rapidy than actually happened?. Charles was relentlessly ground down , whereas Walcott took him out with one punch. I'm not going to mention the 2nd Walcott fight ,you know my opinion of that. Still just using the jab
Peralta had a further 25 fights after losing to Foreman losing just 3 ,one to Foreman,in his last fight, nearly 4 years later he drew with Ron Lyle!Worn & Torn lol. Peralta was worn and torn but 37 years old Walcott , 36 years old Louis and 40 years old Moore were in their primes! I'm winning this with one hand!
So one shot power means not hitting the opponent at all, until you hit him the first time and put him out? Or does it mean the opponent has to be perfectly fresh when you land the punch to consider it a one punch KO? Was Layne a one punch KO or not? Because you are insinuating that it was not. Also, what jab are you using? We're not fighting, we're getting to the bottom of the truth. Or at least I'm trying to. Idk what you hope to accomplish by going "one on one" with me besides a deluded sense of victory you can use to sniff your own ass and gain some meaningless ego boost. I'd rather be more productive, find common ground, check each others logic to make sure we don't misstep. If the goal is to "win" then we'll use low quality arguments and get nowhere. We'll both lose.
I don't need an ego boost and at my age its an effort to do up my shoe laces let alone sniff my own ass so stop with the stroppy stuff please. You want an example of a one shot ko where a significant amount of wearing down has not taken place previously ? Walcott v Charles. Louis v B Baer.
Which Buddy Baer fight? In both fights he was "worn down" the way you describe it. Rocky has plenty of 1 round knockouts that we don't have film of. You think none of those are one punch KO's? Either way your definition of one punch KO's seems extremely obscure when you don't count Marciano-Layne as a one punch KO, but you do count Louis-Baer.
You completely excuse Peraltas loss to a 175lb fighter, since he was 175lb. Then you condemn Lastarza for losing to a 175lb fighter when he was 175lb. Uh hello.
Roy Harris has been mentioned in comparison to Roland LaStarza. I tend to agree that he was better or at least had a better career. All his losses were to men who were champions or ranked in the top five. His list of victims is decent--Willie Pastrano, Bob Baker, Charley Powell, Joe Bygraves, Willi Besmanoff, Charley Norkus, Alejandro Lavorante, Henry Hall, Buddy Turman, Donnie Fleeman He managed to last 12 against Patterson in a title shot and scored a knockdown. Yes, he was blown out in one by Liston, but he held up as well as Patterson did. I have to re-watch the film, but I don't think he was actually counted out. LaStarza's big advantage is that Layne & Bucceroni were at the crest of their careers when Roland beat them (a very tight fight with Layne) while other than Pastrano & perhaps Powell & Besmanoff, Harris feasted on guys either on the way down or in Lavorante's case, inexperienced.
Louis threw half a dozen tentative left jabs with nothing on them and a couple of arm-punch left hooks listen to the commentary. Please stop with this fairy tale!. This content is protected
He appears to be a difficult target for LaStarza despite applying constant pressure. I didn't see LaStarza get anything clean in, Marciano either bobs underneath his punches or catches them with his glove. I'm not surprised the fight ended like it did.
