Upgrade that footage quality tho. https://streamable.com/jo18w Rocky lands an uppercut on Louis who is against the ropes. Look at the first uppercut against the ropes before Rocky weaves and throws another one. That punch switches Louis from a guy trying to punch, block, hold and survive, into a guy who is frozen.
I'll take Joe's word on how the fight went for him that and my own eyes. I don't know about you ,but I think we have just about exhausted this now.
Exhausted?! These are just my feints! *Starts dancing around like Ali, slips, and falls face first into a bucket*
This debate on how and who beats the Rocky had been going on for over 60 years. http://www.si.com/vault/1955/09/19/604975/hows-marciano-gonna-hit-me http://www.si.com/vault/1955/09/05/...ght-makes-him-the-sports-communications-champ http://www.si.com/vault/1955/09/19/...nd-lou-thesz-wrestling-champion-who-would-win
I've not read all the responses but wasn't Roland mentioned too? I think the Rock would have been virtually the same fighter, but more chiseled and a little heavier circa 2000 and still the come forward wrecking machine he was in the 50's! But perhaps unintentional he could fight a tad dirty as I, at least, saw in the 2nd LaStarza fight. Didn't he have a point or round taken away in their rematch? Not sure. LaStarza was a slick boxer puncher, not as good as the Rock, put talented and tough! My trivia question I always bring up is: "Who is the only judge that scored the Rock a loser in a fight?" Can't recall his name right now but it led to a split-decision in their first scrap which, unfortunately, we're unable to see. Rocky is a TRUE HOF'er but I'd like to have seen their 1st fight. I posted a thread several years ago, eras be damned, on a LaStarza-Jimmy Yound bout. Is Roland-Rock's first fight forever gone?
