Yet Dundee and Ali rated him highly. Opinions, eh?

Ali stated Marciano was better than Frazier.

In fact he was especially defensively.

Joe Louis made everyone's face look like raw hamburger meat. Did you see what Louis did to a prime ezzard Charles face in 1950?

exactly. The old bomber pounded bumps and lumps all over Charles' head, brows, lips and closed up Ezzards left eye up real tight. Poor Ezzard won, but looked like a baseball bat victim.

yet nobody ever atacks the defensive skills of Ezzard Charles do they?

Yes I agree with this part. Frazier moved in cycles that could be read. If his head went down it was going to come back up and so on. There was a sequence to it to follow. He was not anticipating what was coming as it came, but in Joes prime it did not matter so much because his footwork took away so much room, created more angles, his punching accuracy really restricting what was coming back toward him. Once Frazier lost that bit of eyesight it effected the timing and accuracy he once had. But before this, up untthe TFOTC Frazier was extremely effective.

To me it is not a case of who had better defence but who was more effective at taking less shots. After 1971 Frazier took too many shots. Before 1971, not that he had many fights, I dont think he took more punches than anyone else because he was so on top of his oposition.

But in a technical sense, reacting to the situation with feints, parrying, weaving low, using the parry counter, closing distance as Rocky did was the more spontaneous and efficient way to utilise traditional defensive skills.

The point is fan boys talk up Marciano's defensive elusiveness, when he himself said he could not avoid Louis's jabs ,he "just had to take them".

I just love how you always manage to obliquely pat yourself on the back in each post you make.

What have Marciano's defensive capabilities to do with Frazier's?

"I didn't figure on any problems with Marciano.
He was strong sure, but he fought like a street brawler.Figured I could outbox him anytime, and I needed the money too much to turn it down.
I felt confident.Yeah I was right ,he was a street brawler. He couldn't touch me when it came to boxing."
"Everything was fine until the 7th round. My age gave me away: all of a sudden my legs gave out".
    Joe Louis.

I have to ask:What have you got against Marciano? There seems to be a constant belittling of his abilities and opposition that far exceeds the scrutiny given to other fighters.

And everybody else had to take Joe Louis's jab.. There wasn't nobody Joe Louis could not hit with his jab. Prime Charles, Bivins, Brion, (Valentino, Layne, shkor, elmer Ray in exhibitions) and Walcott.. Joe always had a great jab. even at the end. Nobody else avoided that jab.

    Which poster said the following?
Marciano Deserves A Lot Of Respect
"yes as a fighter and as a man"

"After being floored in the 1st ,he had to contend with cuts and liniment in his eyes, but nothing got in the way of his determination to win the title.I think he is the poster boy for getting the most mileage out of what you have".

    I've no interest in Rocky's s*x life,he was a hell of a fighter and a hell of a man ,isn't that enough?"

"and if you had courage and were durable,he could ruin you permanently"
" Rocky was a great fighter and probably a great man."
Rocky's reign is excellent, hence my saying it was above reproach."

"Rocky's reign is excellent he fought who was around,he could do no more."
"I pick Marciano to ko Kovalev,he is far more proven at top level."

    The poster Mcvey.
