Rez, let me first say, I appreciate some of the videos you've done, and the time you've taken to restore some of them. It's truly a needed valuable thing you're doing. That said, some of these 4 second or 8 second clips are truly disingenuous in nature. I'm being very modest here, but I would say, you could find 4 seconds clips for 99.7% of all pro boxers who ever lived that are very becoming. It's not hard to do. That goes for boxers with records of 0-12 or 1-2-15. There would be some clip in there showing a good jab, or slipping a punch, or countering a punch. That goes for virtually every fighter that every fought, and exactly why showing these clips is a bit disingenuous imo. That is just my observation, and what I think about some of these clips; but again, I think you're doing good work on things as well. Hopefully you can see what I'm saying here.
The idea is not to cut out the bad parts The idea is to isolate, so you can see the action through the shitty production a little bit clearer. You can always A. Ask me which fight it is, and watch it yourself. B. Ask me to extend the gif C. Extend it yourself. I'm trying to enhance the viewing experience on older fighters so we can see what they are doing more clearly. I've gotten tons of feedback from people who have said they never expected these fighters could do the things they've done. Or that they haven't seen the action so clearly, despite knowing these fighters for decades. Watching a Gif of Mayweather is no way to rank him in the all time standings. But it's a great way at seeing what he could do. If I really wanted to be disingenuous, I could try to make Bowe look terrible, like Kevin tries to do with older fighters. And trust me, you don't want to see that. I don't want to see that. It's ugly business. We all turn into haters and we miss the plot. Here is the ideal scenario: People who disagree on the interpretation of a gif, have an honest, open, and respectful dialogue, in which they seek to learn, together. Not go tit for tat on snarky responses. What would happen, is there would be a tremendous trove of content and analyses produced. We could probably come up with strong, testable theories with data and organized information. We have the potential of crowd sourcing these efforts from knowledgable fans across the globe. Ahh what the heck am I saying...
I hear you though Kurupt. Fairness is my intention, and I will not always succeed despite my efforts. I'm still growing and learning. I count on The feedback from fair and trustworthy posters. Thank you.
This 8 second clip of you looking as good as Marvin Hagler, is it in a real fight against the current best heavyweight in the world? That's the hard part.
Rez is absolutely correct. These older fight films it is exceedingly difficult to isolate visually individual fighters skill sets. Rez by developing mini film clips helps us all better understand what these fighters brought to the table.
