Respect for actually taking the time to find a good example to make your point. I agree with you 100%

That was my point in isolating this brief-but-revealing segment of the action. Easy to overlook this stuff if you get caught up watching whole fights (and the things they don't do well) or following a fighter's entire career (including, especially, their losses).

Well I saw the Shavers fight, Ernie was 38 and dead tired after 3 or 4 rounds. Cobb's corner man Benton actually asked Cobb if he wanted him to stop it cause Ernie was killin him. But Tex was a tough SOB and he hung in till Shavers was done.

Yes Cobb had subtle little nuances to his game that casual observers just didn't appreciate. It's time he took his place in the pantheon of great boxers!

I don't know what you are trying to achieve here.

Of course Cobb had some boxing skills.

He didn’t get as far as he did for no reason.

Cobb's biggest issue was his hand speed was so poor. Punches lacked any snap.

I'm sure Cobb would have done much better, had he been allowed to kick Norton, Dokes and Holmes.

This was an old, slow Norton and It looked like Cobb missed most of the punches in that sequence. Cobb's hand speed here is pretty mediocre. Yes, he had some technique learned in the Philly Gyms, but all the training in the world couldn't make up for his relative lack of talent. He sure could take a punch, though.

If only it were, MM. When I say I make a living telling jokes, what I should have said is that my boss says frequently that it's a good job I make him laugh because I'm completely useless otherwise. He says it too frequently for it not to be true.

@mrkoolkevin This footage doesn't count because it's not black an white and you didn't embellish what it showed enough. You need to use word like "abnormal", "inhuman", "perfect" and "machine"

Did anyone call Cobb a clumsy novice that didn't know how to box?
No? Then this thread is dumb.
The people rallying around it are the ones who've believed in tales for DECADES, and are just starting the uncomfortable process of seeing their agendas obliterated.

Or maybe you and others embellish your understanding of boxing?
