Max Baer lands a short thudding right on Braddock that reverberates throughout the arena. Somehow Braddock was able to recover, and take back control of the fight.

It looked more like Baer punching at his target rather than through his target. Though he did well to set it up with the blinding jabd in Braddock's face.

Just watched that six times, I don't see a big punch capable of koing anyone in any of those landed. They are essentially arm punches. The only big shot thrown is a right swing that does not land! WTF???
Have you posted the wrong clip?

    Nope, it's there.
    Try turning the volume up.

I am assuming this is a joke thread or maybe you are one of those "boxing fans" that are in love with any fighter than boxed back in the olden times. You are probably one of those guys who still think that 170/180 pound guys like Gene Tunney, Rocky Marciano and Jack Dempsey could beat modern sized heavyweights like Lennox Lewis, Vitali Klistchko,Wladimir Klistchko, George Foreman, Riddick Bowe, Anthony Joshua and the likes.

My eyes tell me what I'm looking at, not my ears.I see arm punches landing with no heft behind them.
It may well be a joke thread but its hard to ascertain with you after your comments on Carnera.

It's a half-decent punch, considering it's coming from Max Baer, yeah, it's going to hurt. But it's not a full-bodied shot, nor does it connect properly with knuckle turn over on impact.

The loudness of a punch isn't always a good indicator. Sometimes the slaps are the loudest punches.

It was a solid punch, but not much on it; traveled only a foot or so. The same punch
from Foreman KO'd Moorer, but Baer, who certainly could crack, didn't have the power
    of Old George IMO.

He doesn't turn on it and it ends up being more of a slap. But he got it to the target and that is better than a fully drilled punch missing.

A great reflection of your video based analytical skills.

It was a heavy short right that lands solid. If you have the volume all the way up, you get a better sense for the disgusting sound of the impact. You can even hear Braddock make the "hoomph" sound of getting rocked with a jarring punch, and crowd reacting like they just saw something vicious.

Not sure why the nitpicking that it wasn't a perfect punch. Another case of ultra difficult standards for old fighters, and extremely low standards for modern fighters?

With a powerful shoulder snap, a short overhand hook like that with leverage can do real damage. Which is why it jolted Braddock violently, and the impact made a huge sound.

You can also right click the video, choose 1/4th speed to get a better look.

    Not being argumentative, legitimately curious.

Do you know of any examples of clean power punches landing flush, producing a loud sound, where the punch doesn't do much damage to the other person?

How do you produce loud impact sounds with slaps wearing boxing gloves?

I'm telling you what I see and I don't appear to be on my own with this ,its my honest opinion. If I didn't know either fighter ,or the result of the fight watching it for the first time I would be surprised if JB went down from that short right hand.
