Any telegraphing baer made was hidden by the jab. Its also not your typical baer punch so even if braddock had seen it coming the off timing of it would have caught braddock. I see there is weight transfer from right foot to left, punch lands in the middle of that transfer, shoulders waist all line up. Baer was relaxed right until the moment of impact where he tightens his fist and forearms. Doesnt look like he turns over the fist, but a powderpuff puncher who turns his fist over is not suddenly going to become george foreman. It was basically a shortened, simplified version of a basic louis cross, isnt louis considered the epitome of power punching?

It was all shoulder snap and weight shift. He didn't use it the same way Foreman did because Foremans was a straight punch, so George used his shoulder as a pole axe driver. Baer here uses his shoulder as a slingshot whip (snap) and combines it with the weight shift.

Louis put Braddock's teeth through his gumshield.I've never heard of anyone else doing that.

"Braddock later said, "When he hit me with that left-right combination, I could've stayed down on the canvas for three weeks."

In all honesty I remember the hard punchers but the one time in my life I was sparked out I remember nothing of it except the guys hands felt like rocks everytime he clipped me.....

Yes many have said that, Patterson said it was painless,Henry Cooper ,after being ko'd by Ingo said the same.Fullmer after SRR. The guys that ruin you are the ones that throw incessantly hard punches ,the relentless grinders, such as Marciano, very few were the same after sharing a ring with him.

I watched this again on mobile and I realize the sound was way too low.
So I reuploaded the clip with increased volume.

Arm punch. No power from the hips, no power from the shoulder.A decent clip that any reasonably durable heavyweight should withstand without being floored.imo

You can see Braddocks knees buckle from that right hands impact. That right landed a bit high....not on the button. That same punch, on the button, would have dropped Braddock.

It looks to me like Baer rushed the punch because his range was a little more crowded than he expected, and got in something that connected rather than a full sell-out KO punch he was probably hunting for. I don't see a lot of snap or dramatic weight shift or any other magical incantations from the elders. I just see a good punch given the situation, nothing more.

The power is coming from somewhere.

When Baer tapped someone on the shoulder it probably hurt.
